Whew boy, video games, am I right?? 2024 started off with a bang with many development studios laying off several thousand employees in just the first three months alone. Problem is, these publishers are also mentioning record profits... what gives? Then several high profile releases like Suicide Squad underperformed, but WB quickly decided NOT to learn its lesson and committed to produce even more games of its ilk! In light of this, and of an all digital future looming ahead, is there any hope for video games in 2024? I'm bringing on forestminish and Kevin Kenson this month to get to the bottom of this!
2024 started with a lot of prolific YouTubers announcing their retirement, citing burnout from an unforgiving algorithm. I've gathered a crack team of full-time creators including streamer ProtonJon, video maker Shesez of Boundary Break, as well as a full-time social media manager and mental health/self care advocate selfcaregamer to talk about what burnout and the algorithm mean to them.
Our annual tradition returns! This time we have forestminish, ProtonJon, and JoshJepson here to talk about the games we all played last year, and ranking them as we always do! Did we manage to all finish Tears of the Kingdom, or did we all collectively burn out... Did Laughingboy finish ANY games that actually released in 2023? What games did we find the most disappointing? All will be revealed in this episode.
Well gamers, 2023 is almost over. What was probably one of the best years of video games was also one of the worst for the people who are tasked with making them. I'm joined by Rebecca Stone once again, AKA forestminish, as well as a newcomer to the podcast, Mike Minotti of GamesBeat, to talk about all the major events and games that came out of this year, along with what we're looking forward to next year!
The Game Awards 2023 is upon us and the nominees are in! For this month's podcast I bring in Kevin Kenson, forestminish, and UltimaShadowX to discuss which games we think deserve the GOTY nominations, what awards categories will likely be rushed in between World Premieres, and whatever else to expect with this year's festivities.
We're halfway through 2023, so its time for a progress report! I have Rebecca Stone and Kevin Kenson with me this time to talk about what games we've played so far, what games we enjoyed and what games we hated. Plus, a look into the future and our picks for GOTY contenders. Has Tears of the Kingdom stolen our hearts already or are we still waiting on our game of 2023?
Remembering E3 2013

Remembering E3 2013

Wow, remember E3? The once titan of the gameshow industry has fallen on some really hard times after 2020, but there once was a time where E3 was the "big game" for video games. I'm joined by Rebecca Stone, Proton Jon, and NintendoFanGirl to remember a time gone by. What were we excited for? Have video games changed much since then? All this, and more, on this episode of DialogBOX!
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. To that end, I invited JoshJepson and Rebecca Stone to tonight's DialogBOX to have a heart to heart about being a creator and the mental health struggles that tend to go with that. Catch the show on YouTube!
Are video games too hard these days or are they too easy? Am I only a gamer if I play hard video games, or is playing Animal Crossing okay? I'm joined by @BoundaryBreak, @forestminish, and @alecandstuff to talk about game difficulty and what it means to the gamer community as a whole. Are save states considered cheating? What about developer intent? We'll answer those and more tonight! Catch the show live on YouTube!
Tonight I convinced @forestminish, @UltimaShadowX, and @MissFushi to hang out with me and talk about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! We'll talk about what we're looking forward to in the Breath of the Wild sequel, what we liked/disliked about the first game in this duology, and more! Catch the show live on YouTube!
It's that time of year again! Time to get together with friends, celebrate the new year, and use a numerical ranking system in order to say whether or not the video games we played the last year were good or bad. I have ProtonJon and Josh Jepson back on the horn, and MasaeAnela returns to go through all the games we played in 2022 while we rank our top 3 picks! Catch the show live on YouTube!
On this month's episode Rebecca Stone and I talk about the recently released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. Did the myriad of bugs bother us? What do we want from DLC or even a Generation 10? Is this podcast back for real? Catch the show live on YouTube!
Dangaroo, the Nintendo Switch is 5 years old. That's getting up there in console years. I bring on my good friends Rebecca Stone AKA ForestMinish, and AlecandStuff to talk about what went right with the Switch, what went wrong, and all the rumors and speculations this system has endured over its lifetime! We'll also talk about the games and features we still want from the Switch as it enters the second half of its life-span! Catch the show live on YouTube!
Remember when we thought that 2021 was gonna be better? Man what a lie we told ourselves, huh? I mean, I guess it was alright if you like playing video games. That's exactly what we plan to talk about on today's episode! I have ProtonJon and Josh Jepson back, and this time we have Rebecca Stone, AKA ForestMinish to talk about all the games we played in 2021, while ranking our top 3! Catch the show live on YouTube!
Wow. PS5 is now a whole year old. It’s crazy to think about all the memories I’ve already made with mine and… What? You don’t have one? And neither do you? Or you? Well then who the hell has one anyway???   *5 hours later...*  I found AlecandStuff as well as Amanda VanHiel; 2 other people who all claim to have a PS5 and we’re gonna talk about our experiences with the system so far, and our expectations of the console for the future. Come on down! Catch the show live on YouTube!
I have Barry Carenza on the show today to talk about Premium Edition Games and the launch of their Series 3 catalog of physical releases! Check out the links below to find out more information about Premium Edition, and where you can find their latest releases! Catch the show live on YouTube! Check out all of Premium Edition Games' release catalog here!
Month of Metroid concludes! Our final episode features Tom Fawkes as we talk about the fourth Metroid game Metroid Fusion. Does Fusion make the player face true fear with SA-X? Is the game too linear to be a Metroid game? Catch the show live on YouTube!
The Month of Metroid continues! Part three sees the return of Rebecca Stone, AKA ForestMinish, to discuss the third and often touted best game of the Metroid series! Does it maintain its status as best game after all these years? What makes people come back to it more over its older siblings? Catch the show live on YouTube!
DialogBOX is back with the Month of Metroid! Part two has Shesez of Boundary Break fame back on the horn to discuss the second game of the Metroid franchise, including the many remakes it received. Does this game deserve the lack of praise and recognition? Do the remakes allow it some time back in the spotlight? What about committing genocide of an alien species, are we cool with that? Catch the show live on YouTube!
DialogBOX is back with the Month of Metroid miniseries! Part one has Elias Thompson back on the horn to discuss the first game of the Metroid franchise, including the GBA remake Zero Mission.
