On this episode of Cowboy Shit, we’re joined by Filipe Masetti Leite—long rider, award-winning journalist, and the youngest person to cross the Americas on horseback.
Over 8 years, Filipe rode more than 16,000 miles through 12 countries, traveling from Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina with 11 different horses. Along the way, he faced extreme terrain, isolation, and moments that tested his will to continue.
We talk about perseverance, resilience, leadership, and the powerful bond between humans and horses—plus what it takes to chase a dream when quitting feels easier. Filipe’s journey is now documented in his free film, The Long Rider, available on YouTube.
This episode is a reminder that the long way is sometimes the only way worth taking.

This week on Cowboy Shit, we sit down with honky-tonk cowgirl Olivia Harms, raised on a 150-year-old ranch, born into Western music royalty, and blazing her own trail in traditional country music.
We talk songwriting, life on the road, balancing relationships with constant travel, and what it really takes to stay authentic in today’s country music world. From Bakersfield twang to Texas grit, Olivia’s story is proof that cowboy shit is earned, not inherited.

This week on Cowboy Shit, we’re joined by Ted Harbin, one of the most respected and recognizable voices in rodeo journalism.
Ted is one of only eight media professionals honored by both the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA), earning the PRCA Media Award for Excellence in Print Journalism in 2010 and the WPRA Media Award in 2014. With more than two decades in the newspaper business, his career has spanned small-town weeklies, major dailies, and ultimately the founding of TwisTed Rodeo, a media relations company dedicated to the sport.
His work has appeared in hundreds of newspapers and publications including Western Horseman, Texas Monthly, WPRA Magazine, and Chatter Magazine. Ted has served as media director for countless rodeos and stock contractors and has been a publicist for dozens of cowboys and cowgirls.
In this episode, we talk about the evolution of rodeo media, the importance of authentic storytelling, and why the written word still matters in Western culture.

It was an honor to hear some never-before-told stories and catch up with an old friend.
