David, who trained at the Rhode Island School of Design and showed work in New York before settling in Ireland, talks about his lifelong love of collage and why he believes construction and process are far more powerful than planning and perfection. Drawing on the teachings of artists Anna Mendieta and Richard Merkin, he shares his philosophy of letting materials lead, feelings follow, and meaning reveal itself later. The conversation also introduces his upcoming two-day collage workshop at the United Arts Club, Dublin, on the 11th and 12th of April — a small, intimate gathering of just eight participants who will explore collage, sculpture collage, reflective practice, and the joy of creative discovery.
