Description
Welcome to Look What You Made Me Read, the podcast all about books and forcing your best friend to read the books you want to read, with host Val and Cat. Every week one of us will be recommending a book to the other and we’ll be (unprofessionally) reviewing it and going into detail about everything we loved and/or hated about it! Please leave a review and feel free to follow our socials! Beware we will be discussing spoilers!

TAKE ALL MY MONEY! That's right, that's our theme this month AKA authors we will ALWAYS read their next book! These are the cream of the crop authors! And Cat has picked KJ Charles' latest release, she is one of our absolutely favourite historical romance authors so tune in to see if we loved this one as much as her previous books
March Madness is a thing sports thing... so obviously needed to jump on that and make March our Sports Romance month! We decided to start off with a nice and easy read, Peaches and Pucks by MA Wardell, a sweet novella about a hockey coach and English teacher! We also play a little game of guessing the book based on the 1 star review! Hope you enjoy and as always our reviews are NOT spoiler free!
This is our second episode of February, which we have dubbed our "Female Rage" month! And this week we've read Hungerstone by Kat Dunn, a retelling of the classic Carmilla, famed for being the first depiction of lesbian vampires! We also play a little game before the review to see if we can guess the book based on the 1 star review!
We're entering February and with it comes a new month theme and we're doing "Female Rage". We've picked up this witchy horror novel and we've got thoughts about it!We also apologize the sound quality isn't the best this episode, we're not sure what happened to Cat's mic! We're hoping it's fixed by next episode! Thanks for listening!
We're back with our January theme "Second Chance Reads". Where we revisit books we've previously DNF and give them a second chance to see if maybe we were too harsh and shouldn't have given up on these books so quickly! This week we're reading Cleat Cute a soccer romance book! Check out the episode to hear our thoughts!
Welcome to the first episode of 2026! Yay! And to start we're doing "Second Chance Reads" in other words we're revisiting books we've previously DNF and giving it a second chance to see if we were too rash in putting it down! To start we're reviewing Garron Park, a very popular MM book that we've seen circulating on TikTok quite a bit! Cat did DNF a couple years back but have we changed our minds? Listen to find out!Beware our reviews are NOT spoiler free!
Welcome to the final episode of the year! We count down our top 5 but also bottom 5 podcast books of the year! We always have fun comparing our different (or similar) takes. We also, for the second year, did fun book superlatives and of course couldn't resist talking about our 2025 Spotify wrapped!
The long awaited episode where we review Mr Frosty Pants. A book we've been talking about on the podcast for close to four years! This is the last book we're reviewing this year so savour it! But don't forget to tune next week for our end of year wrap up!
Tune in for our SECOND coverage of KJ Charles this year. We can't help it, she's our queen! We also go through why Cat is holding her latest book grudge.
Welcome to Retro Reads month! We're reading books set out of the present! So this first book we're reviewing is set in the 1910s. So come listen to our review of this romantic book set in 1911 New York City! We also chat about the other books we've read since the last episode!
We've completed our 'authors we have beef with' month and safe to say, the beef is still beefing, if not even more beefing! Find out why in this episode, as well as our thoughts on The Life of a Showgirl, Game of Thrones and the new Heated Rivalry Trailer.
This month we're exploring books written by authors we have beef with! We've had some negative experiences but we're not willing to blacklist them just yet! Ideally we want to squash the beef! So this week Cat has picked a book by Freida McFadden who she's recently started beef with after the ending of one of her other books (The Crash) sent her into a rage! Can The Teacher turn things around? Check out the episode to find out!
We're continuing our 'love at first knot' theme with a vampire-y paranormal romance from TJ Rose. We also cover our skips from each Taylor album and talk about Cat's power of premonition!
Welcome to September's book theme "Married at first knot"! That's our cheeky way of saying we're doing supernatural romances this month and the first pick by Cat is Exhale by Joel Abernathy, a queer werewolf romance! We discuss our thoughts (spoilers ahead!) and Cat also rants about a few mystery books she's read lately and Val talks about her new hyper fixation!
We deep dive into some iconic love triangles and also discuss what could potentially be our worst book of the year.
This week our tope of choice is Enemies to Lovers! A fan favourite in the book community and Cat has chosen EWB by NR Walker, an MM book about two guys who think they hate each other and all they have is sexual chemistry but who knows.... We also chat about what else we've been reading and for some reason our favourite vegetables?
FAKE DATING! You either love it or you hate it and we're low-key haters, so naturally we decided to do a whole episode on it.
This is our second episode where we are picking books that "Booktok made me read" and Cat has chosen Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, the Hunger Games prequel book! It's been a booktok fan favourite and we've wanted to read it since it came out so perfect opportunity !
We've finally done it! After months of talking about this book, we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Can we still trust BookTok?
TAKE ALL MY MONEY! The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid was the perfect fit for this month's theme. Also we spend a lot of time talking about milk and peanut butter.
