We are very excited to share this conversation with two AMAZING humans. We sat down and chatted with Ashtanga Yoga Teacher and friend of the pod, Tiaga Prem and legendary spiritual teacher, leader, mentor and musician Guru Singh. This conversation was truly inspirational as we talked about Guru Singh's journey from the San Francisco bay area, to sharing the stage with some world class artists and musicians, to a transformative journey into the majestic copper canyons of Chihuahua Mexico. Through sharing his incredible stories we followed the spirit of the conversation and explored themes like, rites of passage, the loss of meaningful transitions into community, the disaster of out current state of "normal" and how striving to mute ourselves for the sake of fitting in is the worst possible thing we could do. Guru Singh and Tiaga Prem bring a double dose of humility and wisdom, levity and depth as we journey through this enlightening conversation. We are so grateful for their wisdom, and guidance, and we are honoured to share this episode with you all.Z&DSponsors:AG1:If you’re looking for a simpler, effective investment for your health, try AG1, and get 5 free AG1 Travel Packs and a FREE 1 year supply of Vitamin D with your first purchase. This was one of our FAVOURITE convos of all time so we just had to reshare it with you. If you aren't already a super fan of best-selling author Christopher McDougall you will be after this episode. Chris brought all kinds of passion, energy, enthusiasm and curiosity into the conversation. Which, we're pretty sure is just how he exists on this planet. He is truly an inspiration in the way he looks at the world, allows his curiosity to lead him, and his desire to unearth the untold and yet beautiful stories no one else is looking for.We have both been deeply inspired by Christopher's work, specifically his book "Born to run" had a tremendous impact on us as runners, would be adventurers, and lovers of great stories... If you have yet to check it out, be sure to grab a copy and give it a read, you WILL NOT be disappointed!I left a brief description of the book below, to whet your appetite! But we KNOW you are going to be inspired by Christopher, and this conversation!Enjoy,Z&DLooking for a little more? The book also delves into the science behind running and how humans are biologically designed to run long distances. In the book McDougall discusses the idea that modern running shoes with thick soles and excessive support may actually be causing more harm than good, and that a more natural approach to running may lead to fewer injuries. McDougall also presents the argument that humans are evolved to be able to run for long distances, citing studies that show humans are the ultimate endurance athletes.Overall, "Born to Run" is a fascinating exploration of human evolution and the potential for human endurance, as well as a riveting adventure story that introduces readers to a unique and inspiring community of runners. Keighty Ghallagher is a good time! We were soo pumped to catch up with Keighty and revisit old memories, share some laughs and hear how her story has unfolded over the last few years. From leaving Vancouver, heading south to Ventura California, pivoting Tight Club from an incredible in person fitness studio to a dynamic online community, and ultimately saying goodbye to it as an official offering. Keighty is someone who embraces change, and walks boldly into the phases of her life with purpose, and passion and often brings others along for the ride. And fun is always had! We feel so grateful to have shared space with Keighty, and to have heard her story laid out in such distinct and unique chapters. Including a rather frightening turn of events where Keighty shares about having a stroke, and how that affected her and how she is now on her journey to health and restoring movement in her life. If you're someone who was touched by Tight Club in any or all of its iterations, if you know Keighty, or simply if you want to be inspired around building community, fitness, overcoming struggles and facing the unknown, you will love this conversation! Hey Friends,We share this episode with heavy hearts, as we continue to watch the unfolding conflict between Israel and Hamas. We recognize this is a sensitive topic, and debated on if, and how we should take up space in this conversation. After much thought and a unrelenting desire to 'say something' to acknowledge the depth, history, nuance and complexity of this conflict we sat down with Dr. Danny Unrau to unpack our thoughts, share grief, and begin a conversation to help us to try and gain a more robust understanding of this heartbreaking conflict we're currently witnessing. We know that no single podcast, news story, social media post, or conversation could possibly do justice to the situation, and our intention was to contribute to bridge building and not polarization. We are so thankful to have had Danny help us walk through some of the history and complexity of what is often reduced to the "Israel/Palestine" conflict. Danny has extensive knowledge of "the land" and its inhabitants, and has a nuanced sociological understanding of the place, as someone who is a self-proclaimed "outisder with a unique perspective" after having lived in and visited Israel and Palestine over 25 times. During their experiences Danny and his wife Lois have lived on a Kibbutz, worked with Palestinian educators and Children in the West Bank, and have experienced and been invited into the lives and stories of people on "all sides" of this conflict. We hope this episode can deepen your understanding, and in some small way, contribute to the efforts of Peace, Shalom, Salem in the land. Z&D Hosted on Acast.
