On Valentine’s Day 1975, a couple found the body of a teenage boy hanging from a tree along Highway 23, south of Belle Chasse, Louisiana. The boy, around 16-17 years old, 6 feet tall, and 160 pounds, had brown hair, brown eyes, and slightly protruding front teeth. He wore a maroon and yellow shirt, blue pants, mismatched socks, and no shoes. A bedsheet tied into a slip knot was used, and his death was ruled a suicide. A sealed jar with a suicide note was found at the base of the tree. Despite a national search and over 300 families visiting to identify him, John Doe remains unidentified. The discovery of Anne's coat on October 3rd, followed by her bike on October 5th, and her backpack on October 6th, only deepened the sense of dread and urgency. On October 9th, a breakthrough came when suspect Michael Panhuis was arrested under suspicion of involvement in Anne's disappearance. Shockingly, just two days later, he confessed to the crime. In March 2020, 75-year-old Russell Hill and 74-year-old Carol Clay vanished during a camping trip in the Wonnangatta River area of Victoria, Australia. Seven days later, their burnt campsite and Russell's Toyota LandCruiser were discovered. Police identified a dark Nissan Patrol as the only vehicle of interest through traffic cameras. Covert listening devices placed in the suspect's home led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Lynn, on November 22, 2021. Lynn was charged with two counts of murder on November 25, 2021.
