Today’s guest on the Rebel Health Coach podcast is Dr. Michael Biamonte, a founder of the Biamonte Center for Clinical Nutrition and co-creator of the Bio-Sybernetics computer software that can study blood work, mineral tests, and other lab tests to determine imbalances in the body. Dr. Biamonte has over 30 years of experience as a practitioner and holds a doctorate of naturopathy and is a New York state-certified clinical nutritionist. He’s also the author of The Candida Chronicles, which we’re going to discuss.Candida is a microorganism, a yeast that converts itself into a fungus that occurs naturally in the body of most mammals and birds. In order to keep Candida under control, the body relies on probiotics, which are part of the body’s immune response and help absorb vitamins, synthesize vitamins, and fight off bacteria and parasites. Anything that compromises the probiotics can lead to Candida growing out of control. Symptoms of Candida vary and can range from fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, rashes, asthma, and headaches.Candida is caused by antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs, as well as a diet that is high in starch and sugar. It is especially problematic during the holiday season when people are consuming a lot of beer, sugary foods, and other unhealthy foods. To avoid Candida, people should not abuse antibiotics and other drugs and should take over-the-counter antifungals and probiotics. The most accurate way to test for Candida is to look for chemicals that it releases in the urine. Bio cybernetics can also be used to analyze tests. The standard American diet can aggravate Candida, and when treating it, one must use antifungals and rotate them every four or seven days in order to avoid drug resistance. Lastly, probiotics should not be taken too early, as they can cause a negative reaction in people with leaky gut syndrome.--Resources:Website: www.health-truth.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Biamonte-Center-241435772676317/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiss7csT6pBnPAyeNA5AbDQVisit thisishuso.com/rebel and use the code “REBEL25” to save $25Do you want more to empower yourself through healthy living? Our skin covers our entire body—it’s the first thing people see, and it’s the first line of our body’s defense. It’s very important we take care of it—and Chris Gibson is just the man to teach us how.Chris Gibson is a skincare expert and holistic health coach. He is the best-selling author of the book Acne Free in Three Days and has a successful YouTube channel dedicated to providing expert information and product reviews on skincare and wellness topics. He has been featured in USA Today, CBS, ABC Family, Fox News, and The Daily Buzz. In this episode of the Rebel Health Coach podcast, Chris shares his personal journey into the world of skincare. He experienced skin problems as a young child and was unable to find a solution through traditional medicine. He then discovered holistic approaches to health, such as fasting and probiotics, which eventually led him to write a book about his experience. The book was a success and led to him appearing on television and formulating skin care lines. Today we’ll talk about the importance of patch testing, sun protection, and vitamin A retinol for skin care, as well as the toxic ingredients to be aware of. We also talk about the importance of getting enough sleep and recognizing one's skin type, as well as the benefits of leafy greens, lean meats, and omega-3s for skin care. Additionally, he discusses the importance of supplementing with Vitamin K2 for women over 35 and how intermittent fasting, physical activity, and stress management can help to roll back 3 years of biological aging. --Resources:Learn more on Chris’s YouTube channelConnect with Chris on InstagramVisit thisishuso.com/rebel and use the code “REBEL25” to save $25Do you want more to empower yourself through healthy living? Overeating is a problem that many of us face, but oftentimes “just stop” isn’t enough to dispel the desire. Fortunately, Dr. Glenn Livingston has made it his mission to quiet that inner voice.Dr. Glenn Livingston, author of the book Never Binge Again, shares how to become an alpha wolf that defeats the inner pig - the voice in one's head that encourages them to break their best-laid plans for nutrition and health. On today’s episode, Glenn will explain how overeating is really a problem targeting our reptilian brain and creating an addiction to artificial concentrations of pleasure that nature didn't prepare us for. He shares some great suggestions to conquer overeating, such as never eating chocolate on a weekday, or disempowering the logic of the inner pig by reframing it as a "pig squealing for pig slop." Additionally, he suggests that the bigger issue is food companies and their advertising, as they put things in food to make people want to eat more and advertise while people are sitting there. He advises to come up with one simple rule that points in the right direction but is not too restrictive, and to start with one simple rule without worrying about weight loss and to add more rules that will help you lose weight slowly.--Resources:Learn more at neverbingeagain.comConnect with Glenn Livingston on Instagram.Visit thisishuso.com/rebel and use the code “REBEL25” to save $25Do you want more to empower yourself through healthy living? Psychedelics have returned from the fringes and entered the mainstream in a huge way, whether through successful ballot initiatives, on the stock market, or in Silicon Valley. But today it’s not profoundly visual, earth-shattering trips like the ones that inspired Steve Jobs to create the iPhone that is being hyped. It’s microdosing. In today’s episode, we are going to take a dive into this subject with some amazing gentlemen from the Bonefrog Foundation, a company that supports vets struggling with PTSD, anxiety, and other issues through the use of microdosing psilocybin. We have Kevin Quirk, the CEO of Bonefrog Foundation; Jonathan Sims, the director of operations; Dr. Ken, Bonefrog Foundation’s resident doctor; and Ben Johnson, a Navy Seal and co-founder of Bonefrog Foundation. We discuss what microdosing is, what Bonefrog Foundation is doing to advance the field of psilocybin microdosing, and how you can help free up legislation surrounding this powerful new treatment.--Resources:Learn more at www.bff4vets.comShop: aspentreeshrooms.comVisit thisishuso.com/rebel and use the code “REBEL25” to save $25Do you want more to empower yourself through healthy living? Did you know that 80% of women who are in their menopause stage experience night sweats, brain fog, and frustration with weight loss? Are you one of them?In this week’s podcast episode, I was able to speak with Dr. Mary Claire Haver, founder, and creator of the Galveston Diet. We talk about the “perfect storm” during Menopause, The Galveston Diet, why you just can’t lose that stubborn belly fat, and much more!Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a Board Certified OBGYN who has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and done everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do. But as her patient population aged, she was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn’t until she, too, experienced the changes of menopause that she realized this advice doesn’t work. So she devised The Galveston Diet, the first and only nutrition program in the world created by a Female OBGYN designed for women in menopause. The goal is to help women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. There are three core parts of The Galveston Diet:Intermittent fasting, building off of Mark Mattson’s research around intermittent fasting and neurodegenerative diseases.A common sense, anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition (something that’s surprisingly lacking in medical school, and thus many doctor’s offices).Fuel refocusing. There are too many people, especially in the United States, addicted to simple carbohydrates (i.e. added sugar, processed sugars).Although this diet was created for women in menopause, it’s actually an effective anti-inflammatory diet for anyone — funny how that works!
