Baseball's back for the summer of 2026 and what better way to get in the mood than to take a look at one of the most electrifying sports stories of all time...the 1998 Major League Baseball Home Run Record Chase. This epic chase to break the hollowed home run record started off with 2 known power houses , Ken Griffey Jr. and Mark McGwire chasing Roger Maris' hollowed record the previous 4 seasons .These previous outings  injected excitement back in to the sport after the catastrophic MLB strike of 1994 that cut off Griffey's record pace by 50 games and saw the cancelation of the World Series.  Fans tuned out in droves  and baseball's favor was at an all time low. Then by June of 1998 a little known Sammy Sosa threw his cap in to the race to make it a 3 man race to 62 HR's by season end. Griffey would cool down ("only" hitting 56 homers ) but Big Mac and Sammy would go neck and neck and surpass the record at 70 and 66 HR's by seasons end in dramatic exciting fashion. Walk with us through hell (wrong album for that pun, I know) as we take a look at a Heavy Metal classic that carries as much weight today in 2026 as it did back in 2004 when it was released.  This week we're covering "Ashes of the Wake" by Lamb of God. Released in 2004 as the United States was at war with Iraq and Afghanistan , this album is a perfect time capsule of what was in the political air.  In many ways a warning of what may be in 2026. Musically, one of the best written albums as well. Mixing influences from across thrash, metal core, and groove, this album would become one of the peaks of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement. in August of 1991 the old guard from the Soviet Union attempted a Coupe to over thrown the burgeoning 'democracy' that was to be a westernized version of Russa. This failed due to lack of military support, general public interest , and the sheer energy of the Russian youth To reward these efforts, the country 'gifted' the largest heavy metal concert in recorded history where an audience of 1.6 MILLION (in Dr. Evil voice) fans watched Pantera, The Black Crows, METALLICA, and AC/DC perform. Oculus Anubis Translates to "Eye of Anubis" who was the Egyptian God of the afterlife and for some effin' reason someone built a giant compound of Egyptian statues, pyramids, and all kinds of structures reminiscent to things you'd see in the desert of Cairo.
