For Episode 8, the final episode of Season 1, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with someone special: Angie Franklin, the founder of AfroYoga here in Sacramento. Angie seemed like the perfect person to help us wrap up this first season of the podcast, and phew! She delivers with some incredibly insightful — and vulnerable — tales of her journey towards a full life of wellness. And we're not talking just yoga... We don't want to give away too much in this description, but trust: When you tune into this final episode you'll understand why Angie is a gift, and why you are, too. Make this life the way you want it to be. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part II of Episode 7, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Didier Mponte, the great mind (and voice) behind Open Discussions' Sound Therapy interludes. And when we say "great mind" we ain't kidding... Didier has a background in electrical & electronics engineering and is part of the team at Square Root Academy. But it's not just all academics! He's well-versed and practiced in the world of wellness, which he taps into for his own organization Made By Light & Water. Don't miss the nuggets of knowledge Didier shares in this episode, and be sure to go back and catch all of the Sound Therapy sessions afterward. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part I of Episode 7, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Nicholas Haystings, a born-and-bred Sacramentan and one of the smartest dudes in this city.  He's an engineer, entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed anime nerd — not to mention the founder of an amazing organization called Square Root Academy — and he drops some serious knowledge in this episode. Get those headphones ready! Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part II of Episode 6, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Sacramento City Councilmember Katie Valenzuela to discuss what it means to "Be Well" as a city at large. They talk of the holistic approach to creating wellness as a community and the importance of making that accessible and equitable for all people. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part I of Episode 6, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Megan Van Voorhis, Sacramento's very own Creative Economy Director, to talk about the ins & outs of one of of our favorite places to play: The Creative Sector. Roshaun dives deep with Megan about keeping a city going creatively, what drives the industry, and how wellness plays a role in it all. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part II of Episode 5, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — shares the mic with Ryan Duey, the brain behind one of Sacramento's best wellness gems, Capitol Floats. Immediately following a float session together, these two sit down for the podcast's very first in-person recording. They talk life, business, and seeking wellness in our region and beyond. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.
For Part I of Episode 5, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Lori Russo-Ocampo to talk about the art of "energy healing," better known as Reiki. Lori gave Roshaun his very first Reiki session the day before, so he follows up on his feelings and digs a little deeper with her about the art behind her practice. Tune in, and #BeWellSacramento.

"Doing is way more important than just talking about it." For Episode 4, Roshaun — aka The Spiritual Homie — sits down with Alli Okumura & Georgia Russell from Propagate Plants & Gathering to talk about what it means to "Be Kind" in our everyday lives — not just to those we share this universe with, but to ourselves as well! Alli & Georgia share some business insight about their experience moving home to open a plant shop in the city, serving people during the pandemic, and all the while reflect upon the ways in which Kindness has been key to every step they've taken. Without further ado, go ahead and tune in! #BeWellSacramento.

Welcome to episode two of Open Discussions, our brand new podcast from Unseen Heroes. This week is all about tapping into our Creative flow and, in order to do so, I sat down with two amazing women who are making strides in the local Sacramento art scene. First is Faith J. McKinnie, an independent curator and writer based in Sacramento, and the founder of the Black Artists Fund. We discuss her approach to Wellness and how it plays into her work supporting Black Artists in our city. “If you’re truly going in, you should come out a different person.”  Next, I passed the mic over to Tasha Nichole King, a self-taught intuitive abstract painter who believes in the healing power of art. Her artwork taps into the spiritual being of everyone to make them feel something. We talk about the interconnectedness of Creativity and Wellness, and how art plays a critical role in her life and beyond. I hope you’re ready to dive into that Creative side with us. Faith and Tasha Nichole drop a lot of knowledge that I know you’ll find fruitful for your own journey — I know I did. Get ready, get open, and let’s get into this discussion. Welcome to episode one of Open Discussions, our brand new podcast from Unseen Heroes. This week I got to sit down with two wise minds in the world of wellness. First is Scott Estrada, a man that has been key in my own personal journey towards a healthier lifestyle down to the cellular level. Then, I turn the mic to Dr. Maria Wright, a physician from Kaiser Permanente. Together we dig into the facts — and the myths — surrounding the groundbreaking Covid-19 vaccine, especially as it relates to the Black community. I'm very excited for you to hear the knowledge these two drop, so get ready, get open, and get on into this discussion with us. Working with a focus group for 5+ years to study peoples living in harmony with nature with no chronic dis-ease or illness as we know it in the West led to fundamental laws of health that allopathic medicine has largely left behind. Connecting the dots of sea water & blood plasma for the foundation Scott was able to build a platform from and offer many tools to help guide people back into balance with these pillars. Coaching & Consulting has been his medium to work with individuals & corporate wellness clients; focusing on an epigenetic approach to make upgrades and healthy boundaries of a human’s ecosystem for better health outcomes. In the last 4 years Scott has been working with the team at Intrinsic Health Series led by the groundbreaking research into the microbiome by Dr. Zach Bush, coaching people from all walks of life through the online program, Biology Base Camp. You can find him leading workshops & retreats focusing on hydration/water, microbiome/gut health, nutrition/food education, movement/breath work, and reconnecting to nature’s wisdom. She majored in microbiology while attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  Medical school training was at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, with residency training in pediatrics following at LA County USC Medical Center, Los Angeles, California. In 2005, Dr. Wright joined Kaiser Permanente as a general pediatrician. Her passion is focused on medical education for underserved communities.  She is the physician lead for Kaiser Permanente’s multi-lingual “House Calls” education podcast, through which physicians educate patients regarding a variety of medical topics. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Wright has also made numerous television and radio appearances speaking about health topics.
