Utah State men's basketball defeated Davidson 94-60 Sunday night in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic LowCountry Bracket final to secure the tournament title and remain undefeated (4-0). Senior guard MJ Collins Jr. earned Most Valuable Player honors in his home state after setting a tournament scoring record with a career-high 40 points on remarkably efficient 14-of-19 shooting. Utah State football secured bowl eligibility (6-5) for the 12th time in 15 seasons after storming back in the second half for a 28-17 victory over Fresno State Saturday night. The Aggies overcame a 10-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Bulldogs 21-0 in the final 30 minutes, fueled by a strong rushing attack. Quarterback Bryson Barnes starred with a combined 261 yards of offense, throwing for 150 yards and rushing for 111, while junior running back Javen Jacobs scored two late touchdowns. Utah State football returns home to conclude the regular season against Boise State on Friday. Breaking down the double-header as Utah State men's basketball remained undefeated (4-0) after its defense stifled UTEP in a dominant 75-51 victory Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Senior forward Garry Clark led the Aggies with his third double-double of the season, posting 20 points and 13 rebounds as USU forced 16 turnovers and held the Miners to just 37% shooting. Then Utah State football fell in double overtime at UNLV Saturday night, losing 29-26 after the Rebels scored a game-winning touchdown on their final possession. Quarterback Bryson Barnes led the Aggies with a dual-threat performance, recording 256 passing yards and 113 rushing yards, becoming one of just six Mountain West quarterbacks all-time with multiple 250-yard passing and 100-yard rushing games. The Aggies missed two potential game-winning field goals, including a 44-yarder in the final minute of regulation and a 41-yard attempt in the first overtime period. Utah State men's basketball improved to 3-0 on the season, defeating rival Weber State 83-73 on Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies secured the victory despite struggling from beyond the arc, shooting a season-low 13% from 3-point range, by dominating inside and holding Weber State to 38.6% shooting from the field. Four Aggie players scored in double figures, led by a season-high 16 points from junior forward Karson Templin and 15 points from senior guard Kolby King. Utah State football delivered a dominating 51-14 victory over Nevada on Saturday night, moving the Aggies to 5-4 and just one win shy of bowl eligibility. Quarterback Bryson Barnes powered the offense with 288 passing yards and three touchdowns, building a commanding 41-0 lead by halftime as the team totaled 522 yards of offense. The defense shut out the Wolf Pack in the first half, held them to -1 passing yards, and scored on a pick-six by safety Brevin Hamblin. The Aggies head to Las Vegas to take on UNLV on Nov. 15. Utah State men’s basketball (2-0, 0-0 MW) survived its first test away from home of the season, earning an 80-77 neutral site victory over VCU Friday night at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The Aggies finished the night shooting 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from deep and 69.2 percent (18-of-26) at the free throw line. VCU shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, 36.7 percent (11-of-30) from 3-point range and 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the charity stripe.
