Breaking down the double-header as Utah State men's basketball remained undefeated (4-0) after its defense stifled UTEP in a dominant 75-51 victory Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Senior forward Garry Clark led the Aggies with his third double-double of the season, posting 20 points and 13 rebounds as USU forced 16 turnovers and held the Miners to just 37% shooting. Then Utah State football fell in double overtime at UNLV Saturday night, losing 29-26 after the Rebels scored a game-winning touchdown on their final possession. Quarterback Bryson Barnes led the Aggies with a dual-threat performance, recording 256 passing yards and 113 rushing yards, becoming one of just six Mountain West quarterbacks all-time with multiple 250-yard passing and 100-yard rushing games. Utah State men’s basketball (2-0, 0-0 MW) survived its first test away from home of the season, earning an 80-77 neutral site victory over VCU Friday night at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The Aggies finished the night shooting 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from deep and 69.2 percent (18-of-26) at the free throw line. VCU shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, 36.7 percent (11-of-30) from 3-point range and 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the charity stripe.
