A confusing and not terribly good film, Brainscan combines tropes from kids' films with Christian moral panic and screeching industrial metal. It's a punishment week, and unlike last month, Brian hates it. The movie is a based off the Thai Home Sweet Home video game. Much like every other video game movie, heavy liberties are taken resulting in unrecognizable swill. On top of that, the film feels like a some type of scam. White guys went to Thailand "to make a film." Starting off 2026 with an aborted, mutant baby new year is definitely a choice. One Brian and Steve gladly make to talk about a real New York classic. Clearly inspired by the schlock coming from Troma and Frank Henenlotter at the time, The Suckling tackles women's rights and autonomy with the same deft tact as yelling slurs outside of Planned Parenthood. Full of non-actors who would go on to nothing, and an FX crew who would find long Hollywood careers.
