Psalm 89 is a key prophecy in the Old Testament referring to Jesus as the Messiah King. It is based on the original promise given to King David in 2 Samuel 7 that God would give him an everlasting Kingdom. This is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

King David was a central figure in the Old Testament. God actually revealed to him some major details regarding Jesus as the Messiah. In 2 Samuel 7, God tells David that the Messiah will come from his descendants and he will have a kingdom that would last forever.
