Ken applies novel imaging techniques to investigate bone diseases. He also runs NHS clinical services for metabolic bone diseases and specialised rheumatology needs. One key project is the PHOENIX study which aims to improve the diagnosis of vertebral fractures using routine CT scanning.

The lads talk to Dr Friederike Schulte about exciting research which shows that mechanical loading potentiates the effect of anabolic treatments for osteoporosis, leading to bigger gains in bone mass and strength. Friederike also spoke to us about her role in public outreach as a Co-Founder at the Swiss Fall Prevention Center. The startup works in the community to share knowledge about fall prevention with people at risk of a fracture, including expert lectures in senior and residential homes.
