The Borg.Retroactively foreshadowed in the first season finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation, fully realized one season later, The Borg is easily identified as the biggest nemesis associated with the franchise, and is considered among the top three non-Human alien races along with the Romulans and the Klingons. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, the penultimate - and thirteenth - part of the podcast's celebration of Star Trek: Voyager's thirtieth anniversary, Wes welcomes Holly of the Five-ish Fangirls Podcast to talk about this cybernetic race of beings, who makes the most appearances in Star Trek: Voyager. "Parturition."This early second-season episode of Star Trek: Voyager, the second of three episodes directed by Jonathan Frakes, the episode was designed to end the simmering feud between Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) which appeared to not be popular and not working for the viewing audience. Plus, the burgeoning love triangle between them and Kes (Jennifer Lien) wasn't working nor it was popular, either. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, the twelfth part of the podcast's celebrating the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: Voyager, Wes welcomes back Joe Praska, one half of the other active Twin Cities-based Star Trek podcast, Deep Space Love, to talk about the episode, the love triangle and other aspects of the series and franchise. A tribute to Jim "Gully" Gullickson and Karen Wright. In 2014, Jim Gullickson and Karen Wright, the general and operations managers of KMSU-FM in Mankato, Minnesota, took a chance on a young adult hoping to make it for himself as a broadcaster. Throughout 2015 and early 2016, these two people would become Wes' mentors. Jim Gullickson retired in 2019, and Karen Wright will be retiring at the end of 2025. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes pays tribute to the two people who became a very influential part of his life, and thanks them for everything. The title of the episode is misleading, but that is intentional as it is addressed to both Gullickson and Wright and NOT a podcast series finale.Any feedback you have can be submitted to the Facebook page (facebook.com/TCTrekkiesPod), or by emailing them at tctrekkiespodcast@gmail.com. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of "The Best of Both Worlds."In 1990, Star Trek: The Next Generation hit its stride with its popular third season cliffhanger finale, "The Best of Both Worlds," an episode that became one of the best cliffhanger finales in television history, alongside "Who Shot J.R." from Dallas and "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" from The Simpsons. The three-month gap in new episodes, wondering what would happen to the crew of the Enterprise would be one of the longest and agonizing ordeals for Star Trek fans, only surpassed with the unintentional two-year gap between seasons two and three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes welcomes Terri and Audrey of The Voy Cast to talk TNG, the cliffhanger and other Star Trek related topics.
