Well, folks, we made it to the end of the war. And, frankly, we're kinda glad it's over. It's not great. We're not even sure it's good. As always, though, we find the bits we did like, try to make sense of the parts we didn't, and (if nothing else) celebrate the fact that we're getting back to some actual Doctor Who for our next episode!
It certainly has been a minute, but the YAK is BACK once again! After the gang catches up they discuss video games, movies, tv, and music! They've got a TON of movie reviews that include Send Help, Scream 7, and Cold Storage. They talk about the revival of SCRUBS, as well as the show His & Hers. Did they enjoy the newest release from The Gorillaz? They're talking a bunch of music in this week's episode as well! All this and so much more!
Well, we're into the penultimate episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea and, really, we're experiencing a bit of an uneven episode. The drama is there, things feel a little hopeless, so let's give the Sea Devils even more superpowers, give Barclay and Salt some really awkward dialogue, and let's make sure Kate Stewart never rests again. We are really hoping that they're able to stick the landing with the final episode, but we'll see!
March is Time Traveler Awareness Month and we swear that wasn't already in mind when we decided to finally review the copy of The Treacherous Time Machine that Seb acquired last year. Written by Maj. Donald G Carpenter (under the fantastic pseudonym Merlin Mesmer Merlino), the book comes across as one part fan-fiction, one part pilot for a 60s era family comedy. It's interesting, to say the least! And we also go into why Major Carpenter has a set at the table of the history of UFOlogy.
We're back at it after Gallifrey One (and some con crud for Taylor), reviewing episode three of The War Between the Land and the Sea! SPOILER ALERT!! There are some things that happen in this episode that you might not want to know about before actually watching it (or maybe you do, we don't judge). We're also assuming you've watched TWBTLATS if you're listening to this. Because we know it's not just for our handsome radio voices. Anyway! You've been warned!
GREETINGS WHOVIANS! We are once again at #LobbyCon early in the morning talking about our DAY TWO experiences at Gallifrey One 36! Hope everyone has a wonderful last day at the con!
Hello, Whovians! We are once again LIVE from LobbyCon at the early hours of the morning to give you our recap of DAY ONE of GALLIFREY ONE 36!
HELLO AND GREETINGS FROM GALLIFREY ONE! Join John and Taylor for a short chat from a table in #LobbyCon on Friday morning. They discuss what they're excited to see and do on DAY ONE, and some other nonsense. Everyone have a great Gally, and we'll talk to you tomorrow!
Folks, we're back from our totally legit venture into the future where we watched the 2nd episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea...Plastic Apocalypse!! Overall, we're still enjoying this series, but there were some holes and plot devices this time that really left us scratching our heads. So join us as we figure those out and talk about Gallifrey One which is only about 10 days away now! Be sure to join us Saturday at 2pm in Program E for the Podcasters Social Hour!
Friends, we have been to the future and back! We can't tell you when The War Between the Land and the Sea will air on Disney+ (or what 2026 looks like at that point), but we can go into detail about the first episode of this five-part series. We'll be honest, we didn't want to like it, but it definitely kept our attention by the end of things!
Welcome to 2026, folks! It's been a hot minute, but the fine folks of YaketyCAST are back to help you ring in the new year! This week we're talking TRAILERS. Like, the most trailers you can possibly think of. Avengers: Doomsday, Street Fighter, Redux Redux, They Will Kill You, and MORE. Finales of TV? We got you covered with Welcome to Derry, Stranger Things, The Beast In Me, and Pluribus! All this and much more including a ROMANIAN BILLION DOLLAR DRACULA THEME PARK. That is something we did not make up and is super real!
New Year! New Season! New weird topics! We start 2026 by looking at the history (and mysteries) surrounding an unusual house built in the 1940s in Santa Cruz, California. We look into the stories surrounding Kenneth Kitchen who built this structure (which you can drive by and see even today!) and the legends that quickly built up around this incredible home.
Well, friends, we have reached our final episode of 2025 and the final installment of the Prisoners of Time comic book adventure! This time we have a fairly flimsy 9th Doctor story that really only seems there to reveal who our villain is. Then we join Ten and Martha in Los Angeles and places John has actually been! And instead of learning if the Frogmen the 11th Doctor is dealing with are the same ones from the Loveland, Ohio sightings, we start down an increasingly bonkers adventure in the last two stories! It's a wild ride and we are here for it!! Also, thanks for listening to us in 2025. We're excited to pull our makeshift TARDIS out of mothballs in early 2026 to jump forward to when Disney surely will air The War Between the Land and the Sea so we can review it for you in January!
This time we continue on with Prisoners of Time! Chapters 5 through 8 in which we wonder many things! We wonder why the 5th Doctor appears to be 12 years old. We wonder where this bad ass 6th Doctor has been all our lives. We wonder if it's okay to go absolutely swoon city over a cartoon Ace. And we wonder why McDonalds hasn't brought back Mac Tonight.
Greetings and HAPPY THANKSGIVING, YaketyCAST fans! We decided to drop a special episode on turkey day and it's all about our TOP 10 Movies of the Year! Join us as Ernesto, John, and Tramell countdown their personal lists. They also talk about some of the worst movies they've seen this year.
Folks, have you ever wondered what Turkey Dinner Flavored Cup Noodles would taste like? Well, it's the flavor of the holiday of course! This week on YaketyCAST our three hosts try to figure out why AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH needs so many incentives to see it in theaters, how would Sabrina Carpenter do starring in ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and why GameStop hates it's employees. They also discuss the Night Patrol trailer, Welcome to Derry, and the possibility of Half Life 3 finally being released. Movie reviews, you say? Well, we've got those for PREDATOR: BADLANDS, PLAY DATE, and RUNNING MAN.
Well, here's something new, friends! We're reviewing a comic book Doctor Who story! Well, stories would be more accurate because Prisoners of Time was originally a year-long 12 issue miniseries from IDW to celebrate Doctor Who's 50th anniversary. We read the first four issues (chapters) and talked about what we liked and didn't like.
Much like GTA6 and Marvel 1943 - YaketyCAST pushed back this episode by a number of weeks. But never fear, they're back with a vengeance! John discusses RedSec, ARC Raiders, and FFVII Rebirth. Ernesto and Tramell have been running the gauntlet of television as they have reviews for Welcome to Derry, Gen V, DMV, The Chair Company, AND Chad Powers! John cannot stop talking about how great the new The Best of The Worst album is, and they discuss all of the latest movie news. All this and more on this week's episode!
Friends, we are firmly entrenched in Fall and it's high time we finally review Riley Silverman's "Dark Watchers of California" from Big Finish! Susie, fleeing a traumatic experience back in San Francisco, heads south to Big Sur (circa 1966...sur-ca, maybe?), but not only is she being pursued by the law, but she's also seeing the legendary Dark Watchers in the woods around her cabin. While on a hike, she crosses paths with The Doctor and Bill. Can our Team TARDIS help Susie fend off Finch and heal herself as well?
Friends and listeners, we're back! Now in our every other month format, we're here with what we're calling out last episode of Season 2 (it'll make more sense in January when we kick off season 3) and an absolutely bizarre tale of a complete cornucopia of high strangeness with the Santa Cruz Humanoids! Not one, not two, but nearly a half dozen different types of oddball uprights in this woman's neighborhood in Santa Cruz. Were they really there? Was her street suddenly Grand Central Station for weirdness? And does Santa Cruz's proximity to where the 37th parallel hits North America have anything to do with it? Bonus! Seb saw The Haunted Objects Podcast live in Sacramento and gives a full report!
