Be it serendipity, karma, top producer meets damn good A&R, likeminded souls finding cultural common ground as they bond musically across the ether…or most likely a combo of all the above. Which is how the incredibly talented UnbrokenOne, long time Digweed favourite, makes a most welcome Selador debut with this storming EP. What instantly jumps out from the grooves contained herein is a deep knowledge of electronic music in all its myriad forms. This is what enables lead track ‘Wilderness’ to rise above sub-genres and pigeonholes. Its intricacies, as a series of infectious riffs, well chosen vocal snippets and percussive ingenuity weave in and out of each other, are a thing of beauty. It’s a case of the parts are great, the sum of them even greater. Sister track ‘Gradient’, if you’ll allow us to channel our inner football pundit for a moment, sets its stall out early doors. Deep’n’dark from the off, squelchily hypnotic, rising slowly but oh so surely to a melodic / epic crescendo. Dave, on a roll in ’25 and with a massive ’26 already shaping up, weighs in with a monster in the shape of the ‘Ego Savvy’, a seductive vocal enticing us to “come on in” against a musical backdrop which echoes the darker side of classic early Chicago house with its combo of brooding bassline, undeniably funky percussion and swaggering riffage. The title is a dedication to Rob Casson, promoter of the Freeze club events in Liverpool for whom Steve played on numerous occasions, and who sadly passed away last year way too young. Steve does Rob’s memory proud courtesy of an uplifting throbber which turns the energy levels up to 11, building its way to a euphoric breakdown which ushers in a peak time finale.

Dave’s first Radio Therapy Broadcast of 2026 kickstarts another year of Selador Sessions in his usual inimitable style, reporting for duty this month from down under in Australia where he’s currently in the midst of an Antipodean tour. Rounding off in fitting style what, if we may humbly say so ourselves, has been a pretty damn stellar year for new tuneage emanating from Selador HQ …it’s the oh so welcome return of a stalwart of the label, a soldier of the scene, and all-round ace human, the one and only… Just Her. And it’s double bubble time, as Claire’s musical gift to mankind is not one, but two surefire festive favourites. However, much like Slade recorded Merry Xmas Everybody on a sweltering summer’s day in NYC, our winter wonderland tale starts back in the heady days of August – as the Selador Boat Party cruised the Adriatic during the much lauded (and inaugural) Balance Croatia festival. As Just Her’s set reached an especially exhilarating crescendo, both Steve and Dave simply had to know what one particular track was. Claire advised it was new; it was one of her own called ‘Secrets’, and it was currently unsigned – 10 seconds later, it was very much signed, sold to the men with the bunny logo. One listen to this beauty, by turns tough as old boots and effortlessly euphoric, and you’ll soon see why. Sister track ‘Floating Clouds’ then joined the party, bringing another equally infectious addendum to proceedings. With its incessant arp gliding hypnotically over punchy bass and whip cracker percussion, it’s not just here to make up the numbers, it’s a serious contender for your favourite track of the release.
