Description
This podcast is pragmatic, secular and makes complicated Buddhist principles easy to understand.
Yeshe is a Buddhist monk. He is from England and teaches meditation, Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness.
Yeshe spent several years in a monastery in the foothills of the Himalayas teaching young monks basic Buddhist philosophy and meditation. He now offers teachings freely to all in a manner that is unpretentious and clear. He does not demand students to blindly accept what he says, but instead invites them to examine their own minds and experiences to discover the validity of Gautama Buddha’s teachings.
Yeshe quietly demonstrates Gautama Buddha’s teaching on compassion through the charitable trust ‘Sangye Menla’ that he founded in 2008 in Chandigarh, Northern India. The trust provides medical assistance and care to people from the Himalayan region in India.

In today's fast-paced and constantly changing world, the ancient Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi offers a refreshing perspective on life, encouraging us to appreciate the beauty of imperfection and transience. Wabi Sabi is not just a design or aesthetic concept; it's a way of life that can inspire us to find contentment and peace in the midst of life's chaos and imperfections.
Wabi Sabi is a philosophy that embraces the beauty of imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness. It celebrates the natural state of things and finds beauty in the simple, unpretentious, and unrefined. This concept originated from the Buddhist teachings and has evolved over centuries to become a profound cultural and appealing ideal in Japan.

In Buddhism, there are five omnipresent mental factors. These factors are present in every moment of our mental experience and play a fundamental role in shaping our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Understanding these factors can help us cultivate mindfulness and develop a deeper awareness of our own minds.

In both Buddhism and neuroscience, the concepts of brain, mind, and consciousness play vital roles in understanding human existence and awareness. While Buddhism offers a philosophical and spiritual perspective, neuroscience approaches these concepts from a scientific and empirical standpoint.

Buddhism, originating in ancient India, has traversed continents and centuries, touching the lives of millions. As it spread to the West, it underwent adaptations to resonate with the Western mindset. One such adaptation that gained popularity is Secular Buddhism. In this podcast, I want to explore the essence of Secular Buddhism, its distinctions from traditional Buddhism, and the reasons behind, what I think, is its appeal to Westerners.

The Buddhist concept of emptiness refers to the idea that all things lack intrinsic or inherent existence. It is a way of understanding the nature of reality and the way in which things come into being. By recognising the emptiness of all things, we can let go of our attachment to fixed identities and concepts, leading to greater freedom and compassion.

Over the years, I have spent a lot of time meditating and reflecting on world peace. I have even wondered if it was even possible. I concluded that it is not only possible, but also essential for humanity. It is complicated, multifaceted and requires cooperation, but it is achievable.
World peace is important because it is the foundation for global prosperity, stability, and security. Without peace, individuals, communities, and nations are vulnerable to conflict, violence, and instability. War and conflict result in the loss of human lives, destruction of infrastructure, displacement of populations, and economic devastation, which can have long-lasting and far-reaching effects. In contrast, peace promotes cooperation, understanding, and respect for human rights, and creates an environment where individuals and societies can thrive and reach their full potential. World peace is essential for achieving sustainable development, promoting social justice, and ensuring a better future for all.
After deliberating, I have identified these six points that I believe could pave the way towards peace.

In this podcast, we will be looking at the Buddhist concept of non-self. This is a difficult subject for many of us to grasp because we have invested so much time and effort into building and reinforcing a sense of self. However, Buddha stated that what we call a self is just a coming together of different parts.

Impermanence is one of the most important topics Buddha taught. He stated that there is no phenomenon that exists from its own side—that is, there are no phenomena that are not compounded.
Things do not just come into existence by sheer magic or by some superior power, such as a god. It is through causes and conditions, the joining together of things, that phenomena come into existence.

I have mentioned various ways of reducing our suffering throughout this series on the Mangala Sutra, so now I want to discuss things that may stop us from reducing our suffering, namely, the ten fetters. These are ten things that shackle us to a life of suffering. If we cut through these fetters, we will be able to start reducing our suffering.

In this third part of the Mangala Sutra, we will look at the Social Principles.
These social principles take us further into our journey of becoming more responsible and reducing our mental suffering. By implementing these principles, we will also be reducing the suffering of those around us. This is not a selfish journey; it is one that helps us gain compassion for others. But gaining compassion isn’t enough. We have to reflect on the principles and put what we learn into practice. So, these following principles cover why generosity is important, how we can practice virtuous actions, support our family and friends, and how to live a blameless life.

For centuries people have been indulging in superstitions, lucky charms, omens, divinations, and fortune-telling. They have used these things to help them make decisions and keep them from taking responsibility for their own actions. Buddha called all of these practices ‘low art’, and on many occasions he stated that such things are of no use as we have to take responsibility for our own lives. This point was made very clear in the Mangala Sutra. In this discourse, Buddha was asked what the most auspicious omens were, and which ones should be followed. He didn’t directly answer the question, but instead gave guidelines of how we can make our own lives auspicious without relying on outside omens. He spoke about thirty-eight principles that, if lived by, would bring us true protection.

why doesn't it work? This podcast has been broken in all platforms in past few days. what is the problem?
the app is not working
I have an issue. i believe sometimes anger is necessary for defending ourselves when other people try to insult, injure or dominate us. Did buddha say we shouldnt express anger at any case?
perfect!
you are brilliant. I don't know how to thank you
would you please introduce some books about buddism which they are written by monks or budda himself?
this episode is extremely muffled.
would appreciate, if you can explain , rather than giving your own definition and verdict. Thank u
So true, such people who don't know their mind and express their negativity are so precious for our practice and we should hold them dear! I am a lucky one to have succeeded to get tightly into such a relationship and with its constant challange it is true patience and compassion that have been developing! No-one in the society would never understand this work I am doing instead of enjoying myself in the relationship :)
Wonderful patient repetitive explanation of non-duality driving at the Truth of reality. Thank you!
This is truly more than just a good idea!
stop using big words I had to Google what aggregate is. lol.
spend your life on yourself meditating? what utter nonsense.. We are to live life fully even if its talking on a football game.. Its life fully in mindfrul of each experience. and who sits on there butt and not make money to live? Your a burden on others . thats not enlightenment.. sit but also work.
Have listened to the whole list...looking forward to the next!
Thank you. Please Keep up your teachings. Wish you all the best

Thank you for your work, I love your podcast!
I have listened to this podcast and found it very useful to help me work on myself and my manifestations of the body and mind and will listen to it over again. Thank you very much for your teachings and I look forward to hearing more from you. Till then I will purchase your 3 books and read from there.
