Description
CheapShow is a comedy podcast all about getting the very best out of the worst! Be it Poundlands, Charity Shops, Car Boot Sales or Bargain Bins, hosts Paul Gannon & Eli Silverman poke around in the corners of the high streets and internet to find treasure in the trash.
One week it could be a studio based show, the next, a live comedy event. It could even be a location report or a scripted adventure! A few things it is, however, is rude, crude, silly and drizzled in pop culture, nostalgia and plenty of verbal violence!
It has guests, videos, songs, reviews, games and dares. We apologise in advance!

There is some old school, good old fashioned, classic CheapShow action this week on the podcast! Paul is very excited to share his latest “Gannon’s Golden Games” segment with a game he has been after for a while… The Colour Of Money. Although it’s based on an ITV game show, you’d be hard pressed to remember it OR care, but is the electronic board game as thrilling as the TV show wanted it to be? Paul and Eli will find out. If all that isn’t enough, we open up a new casefile from our “Tales from the Shop Floor” cabinet to share a story that promises to deliver that classic CheapShow horror, disgust and amusement. And if all that isn’t enough, they throw in a few new characters too… Although you may wish they’d throw them out again soon after!

After last week’s book heavy content, Eli and Paul decide to delight your ears this week by revealing their weird little 7 inch vinyl treats! These musical curios will make you question everything you know… Well, maybe not, but they are definitely “interesting”. CheapShow peaks back into the 1970s and 80s with a selection of tracks that tickle the nostalgia bone. There is some cute New Wave “computer game” based pop music from New Zealand, The Highway Code as sung by some A Cappella vocal group, an awful ballad taken from a forgotten Pirate movie and a flexidisc containing the familiar tones of kids TV favourite, Johnny Ball! Oh… And we have a new food segment on the show now too. Apparently.

Things have been a bit full on lately, so let’s all just calm down and retreat to Paul’s Book Nook, where he stores the finest charity shop tomes. There’s been a bit of “behind the scenes” drama brewing with a few of the CheapShow Characters, so Eli is more than happy to wander down to his co-host’s cosy chamber to read a few books by the fireside. Gannon’s found a load of interesting books to show off and can’t wait to do so. It starts with a bit of a Fortean trip as the cheap chaps dive into the pages of “World Famous Weird News Stories”, then they talk too long about the various Red Dwarf publications that came out of the 1990s and finally discuss if the “Roger Moore & The Crimefighters” book can be sued for false advertising! As the nights remain cold, why not wrap up warm in the CheapShow Book Nook!?

Although we don’t look for items from Ali Express, Wish etc, we don’t mind if our trusted audience members send us stuff from those online hives of questionable items. However, sometimes there is too much of a good thing… Or too much of a bad thing… as Paul & Eli are gifted a box that may overwhelm their price guessing senses in this Craptacular Ali Express Edition of The Price of Shite. There are over 20 (!!) knick-knacks, bits of bric-a-brac and weird curios for the Cheap Chaps to (somehow) price up for those illustrious “p’twings”! Who will come out on top, and who will be buried under a pile of crap… and does it matter? Also, if all that wasn’t enough, it seems like a CheapShow side character has been promised their own segment, which is absolutely not going to happen!

It’s one of those episodes where Paul and Eli are going to be doing a LOT of munching this week as they have a lot of food to munch on. In fact, it’s quite the potato heavy episode as most of what passes the CheapShow table is tuba root based! There are two new flavours of Walker’s crisps to sample, both of them promising new delights for your tastebuds. What will come out on top, the Sticky Teriyaki or the Masala Chicken? It’s the Cheap Chaps time to find out. After gobbling their way through all that, they’ll next tackle Seabrook’s new range of oven ready chips, based on the crisp company’s most recognizable flavours… Cheese and Onion and “Beefy”. If all that isn’t enough, Eli has discovered a new confectionary with an unusual flavour… KFC chicken? Yea. It’s an odd one alright!

It’s time to get our “Price of Shite” on in our first game of 2026! To make things a little more interesting, Paul and Eli decide to have a “face-off” edition of the classic tat pricing game. Paul has bought 3 items and so has Eli, and they will need to use all their wit, intelligence and cunning to guess the cost of each other’s charity shop discoveries. One of them will find a few truly tasty bits of tat that will amaze and amuse… the other kinda tossed it off and just went to the charity shops near where he lives. No guesses which one is which. However, who will win? That’s all that matters really, those much coveted p’twings! There is a lot at stake (well, not really!) and once again, this relatively simple game will be made into a convoluted, angry pointless conflict! It’s CheapShow time!

Hello New Listener! Are you new to CheapShow? Well, why not use this episode of the economy comedy podcast to dip your toes into the warm, inviting waters of thrifting, charity shops and snacks! Let the charming, witty hosts, Paul Gannon & Eli Silverman take you by the hand and present an edition of the podcast that gives you a little bit of everything CheapShow has to offer! There is nothing weird, unsettling, off-putting or inappropriate about this show. Nope. It’s a perfectly normal thing to listen to! This week, we review some gummy snacks, a Nissin special edition instant noodle pot with a pumpkin spice twist, a Pepsi gingerbread concoction, listen to a few vinyl discoveries ranging from Disney disco to BBC story time adventures, and we also have to time to cram in a book that alleges to show you how to cheat at cards! It’s a packed show – and we promise it’s just as good as all those other comedy podcasts that you’ve heard about. Honest.

It’s a NEW YEAR and time for a NEW(ish) episode of CheapShow to see in 2026! So that Paul can take another week off from editing (poor tired lamb!), we’re dipping into our Patreon pocket and pulling out a podcast usually reserved for our supporters! As is custom for our “first episode of the year”, it’s time to enjoy another Nightbussin’ adventure as Paul and Eli venture into more nocturnal night bus nonsense. This week, the route is the N89 that starts in Erith, far east of London, and in towards Trafalgar Square over a staggering 21 miles! It’s the longest night bus in London and is also the route you basically have to leave London to start. As ever with Nightbussin’ it’s about whether or not Paul and Eli can get to the starting point in time and without having a meltdown. Once the journey begins, it’s all in real time, so soak up the night time ambience, take a seat at the front on the top deck and join the cheap chaps on another Nightbussin’ romp!
Ding Ding!
(Originally released in May 2025)

As 2025 prepares its end, Paul and Eli turn their attention to the big yuletide knees up… The Office Christmas Party! For their 7th boozy do, Paul wants to do something a little different, at least to start! They head out to a little village pub and get a few drinks in early, before attempting to get back to “La Maison Hantee Sur La Colline A Harrow” for the party proper. To make things a little more classy than usual, Gannon’s hired a (very expensive) Butler to serve the drinks and snacks. Although “Jarvis” seems lovely enough, Eli is horribly embarrassed by Paul’s bullying treatment of the poor old man! It’s the epic (near 3 hour!!) final episode of the year packed with dodgy booze, weird Xmas themed snacks, trivia stuffed Christmas Crackers, a few boxes full of amazing presents, rants, arguments, laughs and a healthy dose of scatological nonsense! Get cosy, turn on your Christmas Tree lights and join Paul & Eli for their mammoth Office Christmas Party 2025!!
See you next year!

It’s Paul and Eli’s final walkabout episode of 2025 and they’ve decided to tackle the Hillingdon Trail which will take them into areas that they are very much not prepared for! In this two and bit hour epic adventure, the CheapShow chaps will attempt to traverse about 10 miles of northwest London in what may turn out to be their most trying ramble to date. They’ll have to deal with going in the wrong direction, complicated diversions, wet weather, a woodland ghost, pitch black paths, deeply muddy routes & unsure endings. That sounds like it’s going to be another awesome CheapShow walkabout episode, doesn’t it? As Christmas begins to roll in, allow Gannon & Silverman into your ears for a special yuletide quest! Woop!!

Sometimes on CheapShow, things can get TOO exciting at times. This week is probably not one of those times as Paul and Eli put “thick white sliced bread” to the Off Brand/Brand Off test! Four loaves of supermarket basic white bread will be chewed and reviewed by self-proclaimed supertaster, Eli J Silverman! Which will come out on top – the name brand leader or the budget supermarket equivalent? The results may surprise you… But probably won’t. As Christmas once again looms on the horizon, Paul orders the “Grinch” McDonald’s meal to see what makes it so “grinched”. Will it just be a load of green coloured food? Probably, but at least it comes with free Grinch socks! As the year winds itself down, CheapShow marches forward!

Hey everyone! You’ll all be using the word “Quaffle” soon. All the cool kids will be spouting “Quaffle”, we guarantee it! What does it mean? Does it matter? The fact is that Paul has come up with it and he’s desperately trying to make it stick. In fact, it’s all Paul can do with week, as Eli has been promised he can talk about sauces again. In an all new Sauce Report, Mr Silverman brings along a few new discoveries that have tickled his taste buds. Oh, how exciting! Thankfully, the PO Box received a new little package packed with a whole host of oddities and curios. And Hey, you may even learn something about the UK’s first ever trivia board game and its fascinating origin! Get your Quaffle on, it’s CheapShow time!

Although Paul & Eli have sworn off getting anything from Temu, Ali Express or Wish, that doesn’t stop our listeners! Whether that’s for good or for ill. This week, CheapShow HQ has been sent something via the PO Box (details below) and its jam packed with Ali Express (and charity shop) treats and, in some cases, horrors. Not only do the Cheap Chaps have a few awesome presents to be grateful for (thank you Obie!), but there is an Ali Express themed “Price of Shite” to tackle. When the items can be truly random and the prices could be anything, just how many p’twings can Paul and Eli hope to get? Eli has his ideas, Paul has his own… but who will win, not only the game, but the “special prizes” on offer to the winner? It’s another tat filled audio adventure.

Paul threatens to reduce his word count down to 25 words this week, but Eli is desperately having none of it. He just wants a nice, normal episode of CheapShow. But when as CheapShow ever been nice and normal? On this week’s episode, Eli is obsessed with assonance and tongue-twisters for no good reason, a package from New Zealand offers a lot to munch over and Paul has discovered an old board game based on the career of UK comedian/actor Lenny Henry! Thanks to an online website called Sanza, a very kind listener to the podcast has sent CheapShow some tasty treats from New Zealand and there is a LOT to slurp, crunch and guzzle over. How will they go down with Paul and Eli? For a Gannon’s Golden Games segment, Paul has discovered a “stand up comedy” themed board game, but will playing it actually raise any laughs, or will the usual in-fighting ruin the love of the game? As ever, you’ll find out over the next 75 minutes!

Now that some BIG episodes of the podcast are behind them, Paul and Eli can now get back to “normal” and get stuck into some delicious “Cheap Eats” and maybe savour a musical oddity or two! They were both gifted with a few wonderful things after the live show, so let’s dive into a box of crazy candy and taste its delights. There are fizzy chocolate bars to nibble, cheesy nuts to munch and odd sour liquids to guzzle down, but will any of it be any good? When it comes to “Silverman’s Platter”, Eli’s brought along a few tracks will hopefully delight, but also completely confound. There are songs from 80s light entertainers, faux vaudeville bands and an odd medical 7” vinyl that, frankly, will get you scratching your head in confusion. So, it seems like just another regular episode of CheapShow doesn’t it? Well, a small row at the top of the show will make the rest of it incredibly one-sided…

It’s CheapShow Live at the Cheerful Earful Podcast Festival…. Again! Paul & Eli are back on stage at The Bedford Pub, Balham for another 90 minutes of chaotic, calamitous fun! Recorded live in front of an unprepared audience, the economy comedy podcast is unleashed once more. Over the next hour and a half, the Cheap Chaps will try to cram in as much CheapShow into 3 minutes as possible, add another dead animal to its collection, resurrect some long lost segments, and slather the guests with charity shop sourced gifts. To end the show, Paul has written a play that attempts to celebrate the podcast’s decade of existence… but something unexplainable and unexpected violently shoves the show into a completely different direction! The poor guests… they didn’t deserve this!

After the success of last week’s Tat Hunt in Teddington, South London, Paul and Eli are now in search of a place to sit down and review the stuff they’ve purchased! The Cheap Chaps had a budget of £10 to find as much treasure amongst the Charity Shop Trash as possible and now it’s time to evaluate their discoveries. There is one HUGE problem, however. They have no idea where to go to sit down and pour through their items. What begins with a simple plan very quickly devolves into fighting, confusion, impromptu bus journey’s, altercations with security folk, a desperate search for a toilet, and the possibility that they may not have an ending to the episode! Follow Paul and Eli on another, far more aimless than usual, walkabout romp!

Once again, it’s time for Paul and Eli to take to the high streets and venture on another Tat Hunt! This week they’ve taken themselves to Broad Street to see what they can get for £10! It’s an episode that investigates the contents of 5 charity shops to fond the treasure amongst the trash. It’s a surprisingly sunny day and the Cheap Chaps are full of excitement for the challenge is… almost. Along the way, they’ll tackle rude shop customers, unwanted flatulence and struggle to find a decent place to wrap up Part One of this random wander. Clifford sounds an awful lot like Psychic TV, probably left a strong impression on him 😄
Particularly unnecessary and vulgar comments by Paul Gannon about the death of an elderly woman. Regardless of the Queen's public status, sickening things to state before someone is even in the ground.
another stunning episode thankyou
great episode more noodles if anything

One of the funniest podcasts available at the moment. Two guys reviewing cheap snacks and miscellaneous, as well as getting on each other's nerves. Loving it. Paul and Eli have such a great chemistry. Came here from Barshens. Keep it up lads.
