nothing against fr Anthony because I love hearing his thoughts too, but this was one of your best! I'm going to have to relisten because there's so much here!
I really appreciate that you guys spoke out on this. I wrote down in my notes the quote, the truth presented without love is a bastardization of the truth. a good thing to remember.
Hey guys, how about we pray for all our fellow religious medical practitioners across all the schisms. Eastern Orthodox and Evangelicals face the same issues. I realize the Catholics are leaders in hospitals and the loss would be terrible institutionaly, but that just leaves other sincere believers standing alone. Orthodox Jews and Muslims face the same issues too! I genuinely enjoy this podcast as a Protestant and agree with you often. But on issues of life, all observant medical providers need our prayerful support. I know you would agree; it would just be nice to hear you explicitly say so. This is not a call out, just expressing a wish that on this important issue you ask your listeners to pray not only for Catholics, but all observant religious people who risk their jobs by standing for life.
I'm assuming it's called "when calls the heart " based on the Janette Oke book of that name. haven't watched the show but Im pretty sure it was made into a tv show. anyway read all her books as a kid.
I'm from the evangelical small "p" Pentecostal tradition and moved to Lutheran in college. I always thought the Orthodox tradition and my own made more sense than the Lutheran /Catholic traditions in regards to baptism /Eucharist. Either you must "understand" a sacrament to participate or you don't need to. If you baptize babies, commune them. If you won't baptize them until "the age of reason" or whatever it makes sense to wait on the Eucharist. This "splitting the baby" never made sense to me and I watched my kiddos feel excluded from the church during a formative time because, though baptized (and therefore a part of the church) they could not receive the Eucharist (they just couldn't understand it...). Who the heck understands it? Anyway, despite theological differences, I got a giggle out of a couple of papists agreeing with me!
thx for this. all Christians (even we protestants cursed to eternal gnashing of teeth in the outer darkness) need to take seriously both the possibility of mental illnesses and spiritual attack when dealing with trauma or distress. may the holy spirit give our leaders and us all wisedom in this.
