Son to an outlaw and raised in the undercurrents of Los Angeles, Jess Van Ness has always gravitated toward the fringes of society. After years of traveling the world and absorbing underground cultures across continents, Jess is now based in San Diego—continuing to channel that global influence into his art.
His earliest obsessions were with music that lived in the shadows: the rebellion of punk rock, the raw edge of industrial, the haunting textures of dark wave. Even in the ‘80s, when he was breakdancing on concrete floors, rhythm was already a way of bending reality and defying the ordinary.
By the time the ‘90s rave movement erupted, Jess was immersed in it—captivated not just by the beats but by the way DJs sculpted experiences that transcended the dancefloor. In 1999 he stepped behind the decks himself, cutting his teeth under the alias Transit, channeling the fierce energy of Hard Trance, Euphoric Trance, Tech Trance, Goa, and NRG. It was never about recognition—it was about devotion to sound, movement, and the underground.
His restless creativity soon pushed further. From 2000 to 2006, Jess ran Electrofusion Radio, an internet pirate station broadcasting the pulse of the underground to whoever could find the signal. His palette expanded into progressive and organic grooves, dark techno, raw breaks, drum and bass, and psychedelic trance. Genres became tools, not boundaries. Each set unfolded like a labyrinth: dark yet hypnotic, primal yet refined, industrial yet human.
An introvert at heart, Jess lets the music speak louder than spectacle. Two decades later, he remains deeply committed to the underground, carrying that ethos forward as a founder of Lotus Moon Gatherings.
For Jess, there are no limits, no gimmicks, no ego—only the alchemy of sound, mystery, and the unspoken connection between DJ and dancer. Never bound by genre and always guided by energy and emotion, his sets are hypnotic odysseys: enigmatic, layered, and deeply human.

One of the most important projects for my warrior friend battling cancer. Together we worked on this release where I would play tracks and watching Alok's responses to the music with delight. Born in India from humble beginning, Alok is one of the most gentlest souls I've ever met, with are warmth that radiates from his heart and touches souls around him. Before Hard Style, there was Hard NRG, Freeform, and Hard Trance. Influenced by 90s warehouse raves, this high energy set represents the genres Jess first learned to play. Many have not heard these styles before and may not be for everyone, but art is art.

25 years ago, I first laid my hands on some Technic 1200s and became addicted! To celebrate this huge milestone, I decided to produce some sets that made me fall in love with the scene in the first place. After going through over 7,500 tracks from the 90’s and early 2000’s, I came up with the White Doves and Green Triangles Mixes. I wanted it to represent what was happening in Los Angeles trance scene, my hometown. Full of hidden gems, forgotten treasures, lessor known mixes, and a couple of my favorite tracks from that era, I wanted to create something authentic in every way.
The White Doves mix is more of a pre-midnight mix where the Green Triangles mix is more full on rave, but structured to listen to one after the other.
If you were an raver in Los Angeles during the 90s, I hope it’s nostalgic and brings back “that feeling.”

About Espacio:
Commissioned in 2023 by top listener Calvin G., Espacio is part two of a series inspired by the exploration of space and also The Crystal Method's "High Roller” as a reference track.
Jess originally created "Last Night on Earth" as part one in the series which is about an astronaut romanticizing about their upcoming launch to space. This euphoric journey explores their dreams and potential difficulties the would encounter with a blissful return home.
The follow up “Espacio” is about the realities and complications of space travel. From the start, Espacio launches you into orbit to experience dark euphoria but quickly encounters some unexpected visitors that show this traveler the depths of space never scene before. Pushing the voyage to its limits with danger, thrill, and the unexpected.
