Jan 1997 comes to a close with the final pair of shows and we march towards the Final 4 and a Roddy Piper/Hulk Hogan rematch. A referee gets fired, Kevin Sullivan is too sexy for the women to resist and Owen Hart wears a green tracksuit. What's not to love?
Duncan and I check out the first ever monthly PPV battle between TNA and WWE. We see WWE working towards making two new stars, the heaviest breathing promo of all time and a women's blood bath. TNA hits the gauntlet, pulls out the ladder and has an election. Some quality wrestling along the way too. Have fun.
Richie and I take on Thunder from down under and enjoy the first Australian based show on our little journey. A million segments, a stolen gimmick match and naughty Hacksaw all make appearances.
Survivor Series 1993, full of surprises some good, others not so great. A fun ppv look back to a simpler time. Enjoy.
Raw vs Nitro Jan 20 1997 by Lee Carlos Cunningham
We get to the ppv portion of January 1997 but only have one show readily available. Better off reviewing what we have than nothing so here we are and with that wonderful sell job enjoy the show.
Richie and I go back to my home town and watch Davey Boy get the love. Pre Diesel, Pre Mero, Pre Raven and even the Stinger are here. Do Manchester like WCW better than the WWF? We ask that too and half time sees us debate managerial prowess. Check it out.
DDP turns the wrestling world on it's head and we look at who does the best vertical suplex in wrestling. We see Undertaker, Sting, Hogan, Bulldog, Bret and many more. Lex is on fire, 4 Horesemen are close to exploding and it's fun.
Duncan from TNW podcast joins me again to review some classic TNA. Pre Hogan, but he's all over the show. It's the end of one era with a bang as AJ, Daniels, Joe and others show why TNA was such a viable alternative. Go back in time to just before our original Monday night war part 2 timeline and see if TNA was better off before they crossed the line to go head to head.
A tough man match of sorts on Raw and Sting whispers into the Giant's ear on Nitro. Who would miss this?
It's the Highway to hell but on the way we must ride through Sturgis. Peak Austin vs Goldberg for who was the dominant bald headed star. NWO or DX? Sting or the Undertaker, you really had to be there. Thankfully I was and I went back to do it again.
Long lost episode!! This show was recorded a little earlier in the year and I just this week realized it failed to upload. 2 PPV's I owned as a teenager were very fun to go back and review. Hope you enjoy listening.
Richie and I review an all time DMOTW. A hasbro goes down pants, JR gets a slapper. Vince thinks it's groovy and I wish Vinne Jones would knock them all out. Owen and Vader put on a clinic and Tiger Ali Singh does some stuff. Check it out fine people.
We head back to the 80's on a nostalgia trip. See Flair and Steamboat build to one of their classics. On the other side we see some of the seeds of an all time classic as well as the Mega Powers bubble towards explosion. Andre and Jake continue their feud, Ax takes on Smash, maskless jobbers get plenty of offense and somehow the super pose down is still going. Enjoy.
We take another Extreme detour into the 3rd brand and this time the action is hot. We see prime Mike Awesome, Sandman, Dusty, RVD, Rhyno, Dreamer and so many more. Good story, good matches and a near death experience. For halftime I give some brief WrestleMania 41 thoughts.
It's not the last head to head, but it might be for a while. RIP WWE archive. Anyway, enjoy the last recording of the traditional timeline for a while. Fear not, there is plenty of wrestling to watch.
A bite sized review on a famous moment on a not so glamorous show. Watch the Undertaker ride an escalator, Todd Pettingill find an LJN and Aldo Montoya get a babyface push. 1997 I tell ya.

Richie and I watch the show that changed modern wrestling forever and talk the good and bad of the biggest indy show in 3 decades.
Duncan and I face an unusual amount of challenges on this one. Technology, my lost notes and lack of footage to splice due to the loss of shows in Australia since watching. The show is a fun one, but a slight change to format and perhaps a tiny drop in audio quality will need to be forgiven.
Hogan and Piper in the match of the decade. 2 cruiserweight battles and some really over WCW/NWO guys on one show. On the other Undertaker, Bret, Owen, Austin, Sid and more. A fun, fun pair of shows and a great watch. Please listen and share.
