John Walters visits with former Iowa State wrestler and wrestling coach Jim Gibbons. Jim has produced an amazing docu-series about the 1986 Iowa vs. Iowa State wrestling meet called The Dual. This was a match that pitted the top two teams in the country. And Jim told the story, through the eyes of the wrestlers, of that night (Iowa State pulling the upset) and what ensued in the months that followed (Iowa going on to win it’s ninth consecutive NCAA Title that year, and ISU finally ending that streak the following season). Jim sat down (together) guys who competed that night. It’s incredibly well-done and is debuting now.

Former Iowa State head football coach Jim Walden (1987-94) was back in Ames last month to reunite with his players and coaches. Walden recently joined us in our latest CyCast to discuss his Cyclone career, memorable upsets, his relationship with Johnny Orr and much more.
Last year, Iowa State won the NACDA/Fiesta Bowl Community Service Award, beating out 82 other applicants as the top Division One program in the nation in community service. John Walters visits with Pat Manak (CEO of NACDA), Randy Norton (Board Chair, Fiesta Bowl) and ISU soccer star Mira Emma about the award and the value of community service for everyone involved.
