Where does the inspiration come from when a composer writes music? How can you express an idea or story in sound? What is it like to compose for and collaborate with an entire symphony orchestra?
Welcome to a podcast series that follows the collaboration between composer Lil Lacy and Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester / The Danish Philharmonic Orchestra (2024-2027)
In the second episode we follow composer Lil Lacy and flute soloist Thomas Jensen from The Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, in the creation of Lacy's new Flute Concerto 'Fluidity of Matter and Life' for solo flute and orchestra; from the initiating ideas, inspirations and sketches, through workshops, historic postcards, composition, notation, noise and movements.
Although there are a lot of thoughts behind the inspiration and ideas in the music Lil writes, this is a method to awaken her creativity to be able to create and write the music. It is entirely up to the listener how they hear, experience or feel the music.
The podcast is in Danish.

NNNC x NC’s PARALLCHEMICAL is a two-hour dual playlist from the personal collections of NNN Cook (Close/Far) and Noé Cuéllar (Future Vessel), unfolding in parallel.
A reflective study of the access, meaning and value of libraries/archives/collections both private and public, and how they can be powerful shapers of perception and civilization; acting as wells, sometimes labyrinths, of wonder and imagination.
Produced for The Lake Radio’s The Listener Series – No Wifi Available, an innovation to consider offline listening.

Inspired by the cassette love letters of Ruth Anderson and Annea Lockwood, I would like to start a cassette correspondance for the "No Wifi Available" series of The Lake Radio: on the A-side I recorded sounds and songs that marked the last couple of weeks of 2025 for me. The B-side is empty, for someone to reply to me. The idea was simple: no internet could be used throughout the whole process, no sound source should be able to be connected to the internet. I just recorded with my KAÏSUI Cassette Recorder Model BIC-600B sounds I considered valuable for this moment of my life, hoping/waiting for a reply.

This mixtape consists of 50 minutes of highlights, taken from a huge collection of Kurdish cassettes.
The original owner of the cassette collection is unknown, since it was thrown to waste, whereafter a close friend found it while scavenging the backyards of Nørrebro.
The collection contains 70's goof, impressive solos and amateur recorded mixtapes, which made for a wonderful offline exploration, where highlights were digitized and loosely organised into this mix.
Internet or not, we hope you'll give it a listen!
During a week, lucía and daniela from méxico recollected sounds, sonic stories, memories and songs in a drifting walk (“caminata de deriva”) that unfolds in a 2 hour radio piece with the different sounds from different times and places that were played and recorded live, form different sound sources, a boom boox, hand recorder, cell phone archive, CDs, a car, etc... we wanna share this with our friends.
As streaming services grow bigger we’re putting more and more faith in this thing called the internet to sustain the archives of our common musical heritage.
If one day, the internet would break and all your playlists, favorites, and internet radios were gone, what would you listen to? Maybe an old box of CD’s from your basement, the birdsong of your local forest or maybe you would meet with your friends and play cover songs from memory.
We invited our listeners, to answer this question in the form of a radio program.
We recieved a great variety of replies to this call
Søren Lemmike takes us on a curated listening session celebrating the past 10 years of vinyl albums released on the Unit Shifter record label. Unit Shifter was founded in early 2016 to release music by local electronic and experimental artists and in the session you will hear a selection of music from labels catalogue together with some info on the artists behind the music. Since there is "No Wifi Available” we will be listening to vinyl records and deep listening is advised. The music you hear in this program is available on both digital and vinyl via the Unit Shifter Bandcamp page. If you would like to check out the full catalogue and support the artists and label you can do so at https://unitshifterrecords.bandcamp.com

FOLIAGE begins with field recordings captured on the lakeside of the town where I was born. Water, wind, and rustling leaves form the foundation of an intimate auditory memory.
As the piece unfolds, these familiar sounds gradually transform. Through subtle digital manipulation, the organic textures blur and dissolve, suggesting an imagined future where nature and technology coexist — or perhaps where one survives the other.
Created for deep listening, FOLIAGE invites the audience to experience sound as landscape, memory, and fragile presence. In a world without streaming, archives, or WiFi, what remains are the vibrations closest to our roots.
"The name of the show is "Down to Dusk". The idea originated in late November, on a day when daylight was scarce, making us reflecting on the significance of light and the meaning of its absence troughout the day. This curated selection guides listeners through the changing moods and moments of a single day, featuring music primarily—though not exclusively—by Italian artists".

A soundscape mix from the upcoming album 'e.a.l. (euro arab lovergirl)'. a diaspora girl travels back in time to Disco Magreb in Oran, Algeria. After listening to Raï classics on dusty cassette tapes, she walks into jardin d'essai du hamma in Algiers.
She gets lost in the garden's many paths, tries to call a best friend, but with no signal. Instead she listens to echoes of time, conversations and birds in the trees. Flying back to Europe over the Djurdjura mountains, she drifts off, surrounded by the airy vocals of Djurdjura on her silver-green iPod.

It is common to develop strong associations between a piece of a music and a particular period (or moment) in our lives. Proust wrote precisely about the same phenomenon, only with reading instead of listening.
Could the entanglement of trigger and thought become intentional, curated, and provoked – a calculated circumstance guarantee for a given sound to engage the change of scenery in the theater of the mind, and to give way to a moment, any time, forever?
This is a small meditation on memory, communication and community, driven by chance and curiosity.
Includes excerpts of:
森の目覚め (Awakening Of The Forest), by Takashi Kokubo (小久保隆) (from Oasis of the Wind II ~ A Story of Forest and Water ~ (風のオアシスII~森と水の物語~), 1993)
Han Yan - Carl Stone (from Himalaya, 2019)
an assortment of recordings, including Jannik Lindquist on the ukulele, Alvilda Reiter Jakobsen & Amanda with guests and friends on various instruments, a football match in Greece, a café somewhere in Ljubljana, parties, etc.
words by special guests Sarah May and Jannik Lindquist, to whom the utmost gratitude is extended
and a full performance of Blink, by Hiroshi Yoshimura (from Music For Nine Post Cards, 1992).
C is Home. Root. River. Flowing as far back as you can, then further, and further still. Breaking the banks, spreading across the fields to the foot of the mountain. You inhale until you can hold no more air.
Then, you slowly exhale until you can release no more, revealing the hidden life, the reeds and the muck. This way, you find your bed, your walls, and your ceiling. You feel every shake and every glitch as bare electrical cables, peeling wallpaper, dust, dirty pans in the sink, all mounting as you write by candlelight.
In January 2026, Mikey Kirkpatrick played a C every day on a flute. These are all of the Cs and their ambiences stitched together into one continuous flow. This year he will step up the chromatic scale, one month at time, playing and recording a note a day; 12 months, 12 notes. In January 2027, he will arrive at the octave of C, the same note, but different.
This is part of a residency- a residency that he invented for himself. He creates every day, even if he only has two minutes spare. This note a day project has grown from this. Everything is documented on a simple substack page (http://mikeykirkpatrick.substack.com). The Residency is open to all. He writes: You are invited to be a resident artist; resident in your body, your home, your streets and parks, seas and dreams. Gather your tools, instruments and materials and begin.
Mikey Kirkpatrick, based in London UK, is a flautist, singer, composer, improviser, writer and educator. He has performed on hundreds of streets and stages internationally, composed for film, stage and radio, and collaborated extensively with musicians and artists across different disciplines. He is the founding director of Alchemy at Goldsmiths University, where he is also an associate lecturer. Mikey’s practice both as an artist and an educator focuses on how deeper listening and musicality can be beneficial and healing for individuals, relationships, communities, society, and the environment at large.
To answer the question of what I would listen to without the internet, I turned to my vinyl collection and digitized a few records I never get tired of playing.
This mix is a small journey through those tracks: folky, soulful and warm. I hope this analog selection brings a quiet moment away from the noise, where the music simply carries you along.
