Description

Are you a voice teacher who feels stuck when teaching young singers? Are you constantly searching for the best vocal exercises, repertoire, and teaching strategies for the students in your studio? Do you worry about keeping enough students, making enough money, or dealing with the business side of running your voice studio? And do you wish you felt more confident that what you’re teaching is actually helping your students succeed?

You’re in the right place! This podcast will help you confidently teach the young singers in front of you using practical, up-to-date vocal pedagogy and student-centered teaching strategies. We’ll also tackle the real-life challenges of running an independent voice studio, from communicating with parents to building a business where both you and your students can thrive.

Hey, I’m Nikki Loney, founder of Full Voice Music and a voice teacher with over 35 years of experience teaching singers. For more than 25 years, Full Voice Music has been helping voice teachers confidently welcome young singers into their studios.

Years ago, I became frustrated by the lack of quality resources available for young voice students. There were endless resources for piano students, yet very little designed specifically for young singers. Even more frustrating was seeing young singers turned away from voice lessons because of outdated teaching methods.

I knew there had to be a better way.

Today, Full Voice embraces fun, play-based, student-centered learning and safe learning spaces. We work alongside music education specialists, children’s composers, and voice researchers to bring teachers practical resources, current research, and teaching methods that work with the students actually sitting in their studios today.

If you’re a voice teacher who is tired of setting yourself on fire to keep everybody else warm and you’re ready for practical advice, current vocal pedagogy, and greater confidence teaching young voices while building a thriving voice studio, you’re in the right place.

Come hang out with us. We believe teaching singing can be effective, rewarding, and a whole lot of fun. Apple verification: 868564

219 | The Best Exercise is… ⭐ Find links mentioned in this episode here: https://www.fullvoicemusic.com/podcast/219/ Voice teachers are always asking "What is the best vocal exercise for..." In this episode, we dig into what vocal exercises actually are, and what they aren't, and how they fit into effective vocal pedagogy for young singers. We also talk about improving our instructional language, because the way we cue an exercise can matter as much as the exercise itself, and better language means a stronger teacher-student connection in your private voice studio. Then we walk through one straightforward vocal exercise with ten variations, giving you a practical warm-up toolkit to help your students explore their voice, build musicianship, and grow their musical literacy, all in a single lesson. ⭐ About our guest: Nikki Loney is the boss of it all at FULL VOICE Music. She spends her days working alongside music educators, voice experts, children's composers, and her incredible team, all in the name of helping young singers find their voice (and have a little fun doing it).
