Dr. McFillin and Dr. Ahmad discuss what they have been witnessing in adolescent clients post-pandemic. Is phone addiction and social media, particularly platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok, harming teens' mental health, especially when it comes to body image, self-esteem, and social anxiety? This podcast episode explores this question, along with the concerning trend of self-diagnosis and labeling normal teenage experiences with mental health conditions. Are schools and emergency rooms equipped to properly evaluate and diagnose mental health issues in adolescents? And is there an overreliance on medication as a solution? A call for parental involvement, including setting boundaries around phone use is highlighted and a critical reevaluation of the current mental health system for teenagers. It’s time to move towards a more nuanced approach that validates teenagers' struggles and builds skills for living. Note: This podcast episode is designed solely for informational and educational purposes, without endorsing or promoting any specific medical treatments. Buckle up for a time warp! Dr. Roger McFillin and Sean revisit a January 21, 2022 episode, adding fresh insights and perspectives along the way.—-------Throughout history there are examples of communities, regions and even entire countries acting irrationally towards a perceived adversary. And sometimes that “adversary” is not a physical presence, but simply an idea, or the threat of an occurrence. Examples such as the Salem Witch Trials, the Dancing Mania, and Nazi Germany often leave us asking the question, “How did this happen?”The phenomenon of Mass Formation Psychosis has been applied as a possible explanation. In September 2021, a professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University in Belgium suggested Mass Formation as a possible explanation for the global response around the Covid pandemic. At the start of January 2022, Dr. Robert Malone shared this topic on the Joe Rogan Podcast, effectively becoming the most memorable part of their 3 hour conversation. Thus the need for more education on this psychological phenomenon. On today’s podcast Roger, Kelly and Sean discuss Mass Formation Psychosis. Original file without commentary: Radically Genuine Podcast with Dr. Roger McFillin | 22. In 2011, a paper was published in Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine examining the relationship of antidepressants and akathisia side effects in those with genetic mutations in the metabolizing genes of the CYP450 family. In the study, eight of the subjects had committed homicide and many more became extremely violent while on antidepressants. On today’s podcast we welcome one of the co-authors, Christopher Crotty, and subject, David Carmichael, to share their stories.Note: This podcast episode is designed solely for informational and educational purposes, without endorsing or promoting any specific medical treatments. The power of repetition is undeniable. A lie, repeated often enough, can become the accepted truth. This "illusion of truth effect" applies to all areas of life, including healthcare. In the case of medications like SSRIs and SNRIs, which are commonly prescribed for depression and anxiety, the illusion of truth can have serious consequences.  The illusion of truth can lead patients to underestimate risks. They may see these medications advertised as safe and effective, without fully understanding the potential downsides. This can lead them to blindly accept the doctor's recommendations without questioning or seeking further information. Don't let the illusion of truth cloud your judgment—ask questions. This is where informed consent becomes crucial. Can Antidepressants Induce Suicide, Violence & Bizarre Behavior?Note: This podcast episode is designed solely for informational and educational purposes, without endorsing or promoting any specific medical treatments.
