How we respond to the truth reveals what’s truly going on in our hearts and minds. Today, we will see heart motives revealed through the different responses to the King of Kings. So here’s the question for us today…. What kind of heart response do we have to Jesus?
Irony describes a situation where what actually happens is strikingly different from what you would normally expect. Irony can make us laugh, learn, and love, to name a few. Today, we find much spiritual irony in the trial of Jesus before Pilate. Come, let's open our hearts to receive God's word and learn and apply it to our lives today!
Peter was confident that he would faithfully follow Jesus, even to the point of death, yet only hours later, fear and self-preservation led him to deny Jesus three times. Like Peter, our pride and selfishness often reveal that we are not as faithful as we imagine ourselves to be. Yet while Peter fails, Jesus continues to display perfect love and selflessness. Peter’s story reminds us that our failures are not beyond the reach of Jesus’ grace. Jesus restores His people and transforms them into faithful followers.
We see injustice everywhere, and our news feeds remind us of it every day. It’s natural to long for justice in a broken world. As we read the last chapters of John, we see Jesus face the greatest injustices—his betrayal, arrest, trials, and finally his death on the cross. But the greatest injustice of all was actually God’s plan to make things right for those who don’t deserve it. Come, let’s discover deep gospel truths together today!
Hours before He was delivered up to suffer and die on the Cross, Jesus prayed not only for His disciples, but also for you and me. Stop and think about that for a minute! But WHAT was He praying for you and me? Let’s open God’s word and find out!
