Description

Hey Friends, I'm Ashlee Williams, a girl living her best life with Attention Deficit Disorder. Having ADD and understanding it are two very different things. I began researching and really understanding this disorder and how my brain is wired. Long story short, it has guided me to starting this podcast so I can share my life experiences and all the tools that I have found along the way. Mental Health disorders can often be debilitating to many people and often times we find ourselves hiding our emotions or pushing them down. Get comfy and lets talk about how we can learn and grow together!

Welcome to episode 5!! We are diving in deeper to learning about how the brain works and how ADHD affects how our brains function. It's all about that Amygdala and prefrontal cortex. The key to managing ADHD is Prevention; avoiding that Amygdala high jacking! Thank you listeners for all of your support and patience as I navigate not only my own mental health, but also learning the podcast/YouTube industry. I'm learning how to edit with some new apps to help the overall quality, but I am still recording with my phone so there is only so much I can do 💕
EPISODE 4- PART ONE- Let's really dive in and explore how the ADHD brain functions and why we tend to be labeled as Lazy, Crazy, and/or Stupid. Check out my new YouTube Channel : Wait Don't Scroll with Ashlee Williams I am listening to episodes from the ADHD Experts with ADDitude Magazine to help educate myself on this condition.  I will then take clips from these episodes and sharing what I am learning on my own podcast platform.  If you have interest in listening to these episodes I highly encourage subscribing to their podcast as well.   Personally, one of many ways I manage my ADD is through creative outlets such as crafts and landscaping my yard. I am creating a playlist on my YouTube channel where I will listen to the full podcast episode while I am working on crafts. Working on crafts helps to quiet down my race car brain, and videoing my crafts will allow me to work on time management since I can easily go into hyper-focus and work on crafts for HOURS while neglecting my other obligations.  You will only hear the podcast I am listening to on these videos, but if you don't have interest in my craft projects you can head over to the ADHD Experts Podcast and listen to full episodes there.  Thanks again for supporting & listening to my podcast!  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr_gpZiETH4WKRjOc7ifLxw

Another Perfectly Imperfect episode, but I am dabbling with using the editing features on Anchor; as well as a new format that can help me work on my race car brain! Just doing what I can to navigate the process of strengthening my bicycle brakes! Listen to this episode to learn a little more about the GIFT that lies beneath a diagnosis of A.D.D.

I did it! I've made it to Episode 2 and I'm very grateful for all my listeners; without you this podcast wouldn't exist. Through trial and error I have decided to change my publish time to 10 PM on Mondays instead of 10 AM. I am also learning how to edit my recordings so in the future it should play more smoothly without all the "likes, uhs, and umms." Enjoy!

If you listened to episode 1, you are aware that it was a very emotional introduction to my podcast. Thankfully I pushed through my emotions, recorded, and published it without running away from this journey in fear. I recorded my reflections and had originally planned to include that in the beginning of episode 2, but realized it would be better to publish it independent from Episode 2. I am very grateful to all who have listened to this podcast and I'm really excited for this journey and the virtual fellowship 💕

The title says it all... a big part of starting this podcast was working with my own inner critic this podcast is going to be a tool for me and I hope it can become a tool for you too! Our mental health is priceless and it is something that is always a work in progress. Today's episode 1 was very difficult for me to record so it's pretty raw and you can experience first hand how I navigate my emotions on a regular basis. Mental health isn't always pretty, but it's essential to building a happy life for ourselves and those around us. Always remember, it's ok to not be ok, we just can't stay there!
