This week Rennie and I discuss William Friedkin’s SORCERER, a film that was a critical and commercial flop when it was released in 1977. As the years went by, the film enjoyed a critical reassessment and is even considered by some to be a classic.  If you are a fan of gritty realism where there are no heroes, this is a film for you. Brandon Legion and I continue our exploration of the weird world of Twin Peaks.  This week we explore Season 1, Episode 3 “Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer.” This episode originally aired on April 19, 1990 and was written by David Lynch, directed by Lynch with music by Angel Badalamenti. The plot thickens as Agent Cooper ramps up his investigation into the murder of Laura Palmer by calling in his forensic specialist Albert Rosenfield. Keith Huckins of Deadguy / Kiss It Goodbye / Rorschach joins us this week.  Eith has been a huge influence on me as a guitarist dating all the way back to his work with the seminal metallic hardcore band Rorschach. At that particular time, no one was doing anything like that and he continued his work with Deadguy in the mid-90’s.  Fast forward over two decades and Deadguy has now deployed their new album Near Death Travel Services available from Relapse Records. With documentary “Wired for Chaos” just hitting theaters, it was a great time to welcome him to EWB and we dive deep into his fascinating story and the epic documentary directed by Rex Miller. Trevor Shelley De Brauw and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec from Pelican return on the lead up to their new LP Flickering Resonance hitting the streets on May 16 on Run for Cover Records. Aside from being, long-time personal friends of mine, they are profoundly creative musicians. Pelican have been active in one form or another for better than 25 years with their early output being released on the seminal, independent extreme music label Hydrahead Records.
