As a breast cancer survivor I volunteer with one of our local hospitals as a Peer Navigator for newly diagnosed patients. They first meet with a Nurse Navigator and then matched with one of several volunteer peer navigators. The Nurse Navigator also remains on the case but the Peer Navigator can share first hand experience and have a more in depth understanding of what the patient is going thru. We have walked in their shoes and we get it.
