Description
The podcast where we do a little ranting, raving, and wand waving! We’ll be examining witchcraft and spirituality from a modern, fat, feminist perspective; with a cauldron full of sass.
112 Episodes
Reverse
Today I’m talking about wild energy and how it presents in different environments, like the city or the country. Are you a cottagecore witch or practicing in a concrete jungle, and do you think there’s a difference? Today we’re focusing on what it means to live in the city, and how to connect with the wild magic of nature when you live some place that can feel very disconnected. In my next few episodes we’re going to be talking about wildness, rage, ecstatic spirituality, and how these are the seeds all of modern witchcraft sprouted from. We’re in our maenad era, y’all, out for blood, and ready to drag society kicking and screaming into the wild. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
This year we're talking about sacrifice - including human sacrifice so TRIGGER WARNING: death and child loss/sacrifice.
Every Halloween we examine some of the myths and legends that make up the image of The Halloween Witch, and the ways it differs from real witchcraft. In this episode you'll learn what sacrifice and offerings mean to modern witches, how to make them in your own practice, and some of the interesting difference across cultures and religions. Then we get spooky - human sacrifice, and hurting children - is a big bad ugly part of the popular fiction about evil witches. Where did this come from, and why do these ideas persist? Also... where and why were ancient people sacrificing humans in the first place?!
This is not an episode to listen to with your kids or trick or treaters, sorry everyone! But I hope you find it as fascinating, infuriating, and magical I did.
Happy Halloween!

Today's episode features Andrew L. Erdman, the author of Beautiful: The Story of Julian Eltinge, America's Greatest Female Impersonator! Andy's here to talk to use about Drag, Vaudeville, and how the different ways we play with gender have changed over the last century! This is not an episode about practical witchcraft, but of course magic is everywhere, so I also talk about glamour magic, and how drag is probably one of the most power glamour spells of all! Drag queen? Drag GODDESS!

Thank you so much everyone for joining me today on the Fat Feminist Witch Podcast. This week I have a really exciting DOUBLE FEATURE! I had a privilege to interview two of the stars of the new documentary about modern witches COVEN, which premiered last month on CBC.
In this episode I'm talking with Laura Hokstad, a tarot reader and witch who is searching for a way to connect with others, and herself, through witchcraft. She visits some local covens and priestesses, each who have their own ways of bringing other witches together, and then she leaves Canada to explore ancestors in her past who are part of some of the biggest events in the history of witch trials.
There is a transcription available for this episode, which you can download at the following link:

HELLO AGAIN MY WITCHY FRIENDS!
It's the summer solstice and I am so pleased to celebrate that with episode 100 of The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast, which is (hopefully) back for good! In this episode a share a difficult experience I had last month, re-introduce myself and share a bit about who I am, talk about the magic of Honeysuckle and Lemon Jade, and tell you all how happy I am to be alive! Unfortunately, this episode has to come with a trigger warning for mentions of attempted suicide and drug overdose, so please keep yourself safe and also don't judge me for the tears haha!

After 7 amazing, wonderful, magical years ranting, raving, and wand-waving as The Fat Feminist Witch, I have decided to hang up my pointed hat and shift my focus toward my health and independence. In my final episode I talk about what the show, and all of you, have meant to me over the years. I cry a little bit, just a heads up.
Thank you for listening, sharing, commenting, supporting, blurbing, writing, laughing, and connecting with me. I hope that we find ourselves on the same witchy path again in the future.
My website, https://thefatfeministwitch.wordpress.com will stay up, as will the podcast here on Anchor, but no new episodes will be released. The patreon page is shutting down, but the private facebook group will be available for those who are already members. I will continue to use twitter in the same non-professional way I have been using it for years, haha!
I have been compiling episodes into themed playlists on Spotify and you can find them all, along with playlists I made for specific episodes and witchy purposes, at the following link.
https://open.spotify.com/folder/47d561a1b54ebe92
I hope you all have a Happy New Year's eve, and year, and a fabulous and magical future. I love you!
Hello again witches, seekers, and friends - and thank you for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast! This is technically my Halloween episode, but for many reasons I had to put it off and put it out on November 11th, which happens to be the podcast's birthday! Yay!
In this episode I wax poetic about the most infamous, scary, and charismatic figure in all of halloween lore-- the Devil. Why does the devil intrigue us, how does he get to us, and what is his place in modern witchcraft and society? I also talk about one of my favourite musicians of all time, Robert Johnson, and those of you who listen via spotify can tune in this weekend for the B-SIDE to this episode that features some of his music.

aghh I love seeing your beautiful smiling face on the cover art!! so excited to read your book. it sounds like something we all could benefit from right now 🖤
Such a great show. Thank you! Dressing up as a suffragette this year.

Re: FATPHOBIA episode - thank you for this!!! I'm 45 and was bullied in small town MN school cuz I was the only "fat" person in my class. I was pushed down the stairs, called horrible names. I'm still dealing with all of this, but people like you are turning a bright light on the subject to help understand, We really are our own community and Sisters are not alone!!!
Happy birthday! My bday is the 18th and my daughters is the 23. Love Dec birthdays 😍
I just found this and started from the beginning. I was so excited when you said you were from Canada! But I'm from BC so I'm all the way across the map. Even so it's always nice to run into Canadian witches on the internet. Thank you so much for creating this podcast!
Holy crap I died my hair aquamarine last week on a whim and it's been pushing me these last couple weeks!!! And I've been clinging to my chrysocolla crystal these last 2 days. you gave me chills this episode
I heard the title of your podcast and instantly checked it out. I'm all for the reclamation of words that never should have been derogatory in the first place. Power to you!
Something I've always wondered was if there are certain woods for certain purposes. I know if you dig you can find it but I wish someone would come out with an encyclopedia specifically on woods. I have been interested in wanting to carve pieces for certain purposes whether it be wands, athames, planchettes, and for those interested in physically making your own alter; which I am, anything else even. there really aren't any magical wood encyclopedias and I think it's a shame. Especially since there are so many different types of woods that I'm shocked noone has come out with a specific encyclopedia for it.
I'm not sure why but this episode won't play for me. I've listened past it but am still curious to listen and would like to know why it won't load. is this just me, or is anyone else having trouble with just this one?
Hands down my favourite witchy podcast! Paige's energy is so beautiful. 💛
I'm so happy I found this podcast! You are such an inspiration!
Yasssss I so agree with your view on the swastika! You put into words what I was having trouble explaining.
