With several states taking action on Convention of States this month, Rita Peters and Andrew Lusch run through the latest legislative updates for Convention of States. Then, the Wyoming Senate Judiciary Committee hears from the public on our Article V application calling for a convention to propose constitutional amendments that would impose fiscal restraints, jurisdictional constraints, and term limits on the federal government. Two legislators introduce the resolution and answer committee questions before State Director Julie Baker gives her own remarks. After some "weird" opponent testimony, including from a lobbyist with an organization that has ties to George Soros, the committee takes a vote on whether to send the legislation to the Wyoming Senate for debate. Then, Regional Director Deanna Becket joins the live broadcast to react to the results and preview next steps.

On January 23, 2026, the South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee voted after hearing public testimony on Convention of States Action's Article V application for proposing fiscal restraints, jurisdictional constraints, and term limits on the federal government. Rick Santorum was on the ground in Pierre to testify in favor, along with local activists. Several committee members made compelling arguments for their yes vote. The final vote was 8-1 with a DO PASS recommendation, and the resolution will now go to the Senate floor for debate.
On January 22, 2026, a vote of the Kansas House of Representatives officially made Kansas the 20th state to join the Convention of States movement! Calling a convention may not be easy, but it is possible. And the grassroots won’t back down until it happens.The team faced multiple unusual obstacles, including a now-defunct state provision purporting to raise the threshold for passing Article V applications above the constitutional requirement, but never gave up.
On Thursday, their efforts finally paid off with an 80–42 vote in the Kansas House, making Kansas an official applicant for an Article V convention.
