The Parable and the Prophet | Blade Runner and the Future of Humanity This is not a formal podcast episode. The audio presented here comes from a documentary essay, The Parable and the Prophet | Blade Runner and the Future of Humanity, which debuted on YouTube on October 8, 2026. As we approach the release of Blade Runner 2099, it felt timely to revisit the words and warnings of Philip K. Dick, author of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and explore the importance of empathy in a world that seems to have lost its connection to the word, its meaning, and perhaps most troublingly, the practice of it. Through the worlds of Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, this documentary explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between humanity and technology, the growing influence of corporations over our lives, and what happens when empathy becomes something we speak of more often than we actually practice. The Parable and the Prophet was an independent undertaking that required weeks of writing, research, editing, and production. It was a deeply personal project, made out of an enduring love for these films and the belief that the questions raised by Philip K. Dick have never been more relevant than they are today.
