Are you good enough? Do you follow all the rules you feel will make you spiritual enough, holy enough, and Christian enough? To start the new Easter series, Pastor Angela looks at Jesus's teaching in Mark 2 and unpacks how the Pharisees of Jesus's time believed that they were holy because they followed the rules - and the rules about the rules - better than anyone else. But Jesus taught that we are incapable of meeting God's standards on our own, and that it is only by receiving Jesus's loving sacrifice that we can be righteous. We must stop performing, stop judging ourselves according to human standards, and instead draw closer to our saviour to be able to co-labour with him in this kingdom-building exercise.   Speaker: Angela Mason Publication: March 8, 2026
Prayer is talking to God, a conversation, between a loving God and his loving children. But how do we get started? Pastor Lucas takes us on the next step as we as a church cultivate a culture of prayer. We are invited to decide to pray, to make it a discipline, which creates a desire for a life of prayer, and that will lead us to the good gifts God has destined for us.   Speaker: Lucas Prado Publication: March 1, 2026
Do you find prayer difficult? You're not alone. Pastor Jon kicks off the first full sermon series of Plan 3 by looking at the existing culture of prayer in Sanctus Church, and outlining where we want to develop it next. He digs into what prayer itself can look like, and how we will develop our gifts and disciplines to become people who pray without ceasing in a Kingdom way.
We all feel it. The world these days feels shaky, scary, shifting, and uncertain. In this last week of our walk through Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Jon explores the reassuring words of our Judge, Lord, and Saviour, who promises that no matter what storms we face, he is a firm and eternal foundation we can depend on without fail. Jesus's assurances don't just stand in this life, but he will stand as our advocate when we are ultimately judged by our Creator if we surrender our lives to his power and kingdom. Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication Date: February 15, 2026
Can't we all just get along? Is there really only one right way to do life? Today Pastor Jon tackles one of the most challenging passages of the the Sermon on the Mount for modern listeners. There is only one way, one gate, one door to salvation and it is Jesus Christ. We can tell the right teachers and leaders by the fruit they bear in their lives, whether they point to themselves and human effort or they point to Jesus, and only the latter are real sheep of the True Shepherd. Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: February 8, 2026
We've all attempted something in our lives that was so difficult we eventually ask ourselves, is it even worth it? Sometimes we can even think that about our prayer life. Pastor Jon looks at Matthew 7:7-12 to see what Jesus had to say about prayer and perseverance. He explores what was meant by asking, seeking and knocking; and how Jesus encourages us to keep praying, keep asking for the Holy Spirit, and to always know that God hears and answers, be it with a yes, no, or wait. Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: February 1, 2026
Is judgement always a bad thing? Pastor Lucas looks at the difference between wise discernment and condemnation of others without mercy. We need to look at other people through the lens of Jesus's compassion, not comparison to ourselves. But Jesus's words also tell us to examine our own behaviour with eyes that have been purified and humbled by Jesus's love. Speaker: Lucas Prado Publication: January 25, 2026
How many times have worried that what you're wearing isn't flattering enough? Or if what you have, do, or are is good enough when compared to the next guy? Pastor Angela looks at what Jesus said about worry, about what promises Jesus made to his followers, and how we can properly manage our worldly concerns with a heavenly perspective. If we seek his kingdom first, put the God first in our lives, we will find that all of our other needs are taken care of.  Speaker: Angela Mason Publication: January 18, 2026
What or who do you trust to get or give you what you need? As children, we rely on our parents, but as adults it's easy to slip into the error that we are the ultimate provider for ourselves and our families. Pastor Jon looks at Jesus's teaching in the Sermon on the Mount that exposes the reality that all we build or collect in this world will pass away, but the treasure built up in heaven will be secure for the coming age. Whatever we worship, whatever our hearts truly seek, that place our souls are homesick for, will be where we find our greatest treasure.    Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: January 11, 2026
We do not live in a culture that makes it easy to go without. So when we voluntarily give something up, we usually look for applause. Pastor Jon turns to look at Biblical fasting, how it expresses right heart motives. Jon works through the six Biblical reasons for fasting, what fasting should and shouldn't look like, and how fasting works into the Christian walk.   Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: January 4, 2026
The Magi, the Three Wise Men, the Kings of the East - there are several names by which we call the three figurines in the creche that brought baby Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh. In our last teaching on the Kings of Christmas for 2025, Pastor Lucas looks at the kings from the east who came a long way to seek out and meet this new born king, Jesus Christ.  Speaker: Lucas Prado Publication: December 28, 2025
Merry Christmas - the King has come! Whether you are already a Christian, or if you are just seeking answers to some big questions, you've come to the right place! Here on Christmas Eve, we celebrate the coming of our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus, who came to offer all of us to life in his loving kingdom.  Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: December 24, 2025
Christmas involves quite a few kings. When Jesus, the King of Kings, entered the world, there were already earthly kings that Jesus's Kingdom challenged. Pastor Jon compares Jesus's holy, eternal, and powerful Kingdom to the limited and dark ones of Caesar and Herod. Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: December 21, 2025
Jesus is the King of Christmas. But did you realize he's not the only king involved in the amazing rescue story that we celebrate at Christmastime? Pastor Jon starts our examination of powers - and specifically the power of Evil in the world - and how the Christmas story destroyed the lasting power of Evil so it no longer owns us - all because of Jesus.  Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: December 14, 2025

One of the most well-known, well-loved, oft-used, most-memorized passages of all of scripture is the part of the Sermon on the Mount commonly called The Lord's Prayer. Pastor Jon steps us through the passage, examining what it expresses about God, and what it calls us to do as members of God's Kingdom.  Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: November 16, 2025
What do you think your legacy will be on Earth? How about in Heaven? Pastor Jon helps us grapple with what actually matters: serving God, not human desires. He looks at how we submit and serve God determines what of our lives is remembered, what is redeemed, and what ripples into eternity.  Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: November 9, 2025
How we react to mistreatment is a heart thing. Pastor Angela looks at how Jesus talked about retribution and how we, as Christians, are called to respond to insults and anger with restraint and humility, because members of Christ's kingdom know that love is stronger than revenge. Speaker: Angela Mason Publication: November 2, 2025
We live in a culture that thrives on lies, full of ideas like post-truth, my truth, fake news, alternative facts, and truth decay. Pastor Jon challenges our society's acceptance of lies with the absolute truth of Jesus and his world-rocking teachings on lying, vows, and oaths.  Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: October 26, 2025
