Welcome to Women on Boards' new look WOB Vacancy Board In Review podcast, where we provide a snapshot of what to look for on the WOB Vacancy Board as well as talk to Chairs and Non-Executive Directors who are currently advertising roles on our Vacancy Board. This week WOB Executive Director Claire Braund talks to Tass Mousaferiadis, Acting Chair of the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) about roles they are currently advertising on the WOB Vacancy Board (up to three positions). While we often recommend applying for your state-based vacancies, if there's a shortage of vacancies in your state, consider national vacancies, which will typically consider applicants from anywhere in Australia. Ruth's tip for the day is to not only update your CV when looking for a board but update your LinkedIn profile too. Give it a revamp, and don't forget to mention boards in your profile. It's all about paid not for profits, animal welfare, nursing and more. This week WOB Executive Chair Ruth Medd reviews a range of paid not for profit board roles. This is consistent with our long held view that the amount of not for profits who pay their directors is too low for the work they do (we estimate 20% of not for profits pay their Directors). Paid board roles reviewed this week include a national animal emergency organisation, a bank, an aged care provider, a nursing organisation and a council.   Skills sought across these roles include transformational growth, change leadership, governance, risk management, finance and strategic planning. Ruth also reviews a New Zealand board vacancy for on a women's refuge. Her tip for this week is to advocate for your voluntary not for profit boards to consider remunerating their directors.
