Raising Feminist Boys

Raising Feminist Boys

2021-11-0857:20

We've talked about this before, but we're returning to it again as it's been in the news a lot recently. And we will likely keep returning to it time and again anyway, as it's such a meaty subject! But this week, Rachel, Hannah and Meriesha are joined by special guest, Gina Jackson, to talk about raising feminist boys. We'll ask why do we need to raise feminist boys, what's the upshot if we don't, what are some of the pitfalls and - practically speaking - how do we do it? It's a cracking episode, so tune in to find out what we can all do to ensure our boys are #feminist allies. Want to want the original live content and leave us a comment? Then you can watch the Live over on our Facebook page. Alternatively, you can watch the video only content over on our YouTube Channel.

Victim Blaming

Victim Blaming

2021-10-0436:51

In the wake of the Sarah Everard case recently, there has been a lot of advice to women on how best to not get raped and murdered. There's also been a narrative of 'she did everything right'. All of which smacks of victim blaming. So, this week, Rachel, Hannah, Jo and Chloe will explain what victim blaming is and why we do it, and look at why it's so often applied to women. We'll end by asking what we can all do, practically speaking, to start to end this damaging narrative once and for all. Warning, we might get a little bit cross at times!! Here's a link to the Canary article we mention in the session - https://www.thecanary.co/opinion/2021/09/28/why-she-was-just-walking-home-feeds-a-victim-blaming-narrative/ Want to join in the conversation? Then head over to our Shooting The Sh!t Facebook page, where you can also watch the original video. Alternatively, watch it on YouTube for the video only content. And don't forget to do all the stuff everyone always tells you to do!
In today's episode of Shooting The Sh!t, Rachel and Hannah and joined by our very special guest, Anjali, to geek out about SEO and search. Why is the world of #SEO, #SearchMarketing and #Technology so rife with sexism? What is algorithmic bias and how does it impact the lives of everyone, even if you're not in #Search? Are things getting better or are they just more subtle? And how do we eradicate this once and for all? Join three #WomenInSearch for a forthright and honest discussion about what's wrong with our world and how we put it right. Want to watch the original video and join in the conversation? Then head over to our Facebook group, where you can contribute to the chat and get a response from us. And don't forget to join the group whilst you're there! Prefer to just watch the video content?
