The Grizzlies announced a partnership with DAZN to be the television and streaming partner for the team. This episode discusses the pros and cons of the move, and why the Grizzlies probably had very few options available to them to broadcast their games. Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfastPlease subscribe to this podcast on Youtube!Use promo code FBBF and get bonus cash at Underdog Fantasy: play.underdogfantasy.com/p-fastbreak-breakfastCheck out the NBA and Grizzlies merchandise at teepublic.com/stores/fastbreak-breakfastGet $20 off your first purchase at SeatGeek with promo code: FASTBREAKBREAK
The Grizzlies picked up a 2nd round pick and a 2nd round pick swap from the New Pelicans in exchange for taking on the contracts of Jordan Hawkins and Micah Peavy. To match the salary, the Grizzlies included Taj Gibson and AJ Johnson, two players who were unlikely to make their opening night roster. This move clears the way for the Pelicans to complete their signing of Bennedict Mathurin, and provides the Grizzlies some draft capital for taking on money. It also possibly further compounds the Grizzlies roster crunch ahead of training camp and a final cutdown to 15 guaranteed deals. On this episode, Keith reacts to the trade, explains the details and looks at the updated depth chart and the seven players currently fighting for three roster spots.Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfastPlease subscribe to this podcast on Youtube!Use promo code FBBF and get bonus cash at Underdog Fantasy: play.underdogfantasy.com/p-fastbreak-breakfastCheck out the NBA and Grizzlies merchandise at teepublic.com/stores/fastbreak-breakfastGet $20 off your first purchase at SeatGeek with promo code: FASTBREAKBREAK
What are reasonable expectations for a team that doesn't have anyone projected to come anywhere close to the All-Star game? Of all the teams in the NBA, do the Grizzlies actually have the worst best player? To answer this question, Chris Herrington joins this episode. He and Keith also discuss potential training camp battles, assumptions about the Grizzlies that might be wrong, the number of games Zach Edey can be hoped to play, GG Jackson's ceiling, and a lot more.
The Grizzlies (along with every other team) got their season schedule on Thursday. They have numerous notable matchups, including the returns of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr to Memphis, plus they will also be hosting an MLK day game again. This episode goes over the schedule, the lack of nationally televised games, plus reviews a couple of news items. (UPDATE: Yahoo Sports got this statement from Brandon Clarke's agent Mark Bartelstein addressing and correcting some of the reporting cited in this episode: https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/brandon-clarkes-estate)Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfastPlease subscribe to this podcast on Youtube!Use promo code FBBF and get bonus cash at Underdog Fantasy: play.underdogfantasy.com/p-fastbreak-breakfastCheck out the NBA and Grizzlies merchandise at teepublic.com/stores/fastbreak-breakfastGet $20 off your first purchase at SeatGeek with promo code: FASTBREAKBREAK
The Grizzlies may have a relatively deep squad, but are considered to have very little top end NBA talent. They will be depending a lot on Cam Boozer, Cedric Coward and Zach Edey to lead the way. Is one of those frontcourt players most likely to lead the team in scoring this season? Or could it be veterans Ty Jerome or Jerami Grant? Or perhaps someone else? This episode tries to figure out which player is most likely to lead the Grizzlies in points per game this season, plus takes an in-depth look at what the rotation could look like when every player is healthy. Also covered on this episode: could Richie Saunders spurn the Grizzleis and go back to college? Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfastPlease subscribe to this podcast on Youtube!Use promo code FBBF and get bonus cash at Underdog Fantasy: play.underdogfantasy.com/p-fastbreak-breakfastCheck out the NBA and Grizzlies merchandise at teepublic.com/stores/fastbreak-breakfastGet $20 off your first purchase at SeatGeek with promo code: FASTBREAKBREAK
