Even when life isn't easy, God is gently leading, shaping, and strengthening us. God with us means Jesus is present and brings comfort and growth in the moments we need Him most.
The angels announced "great joy for all people," and that joy is still available today. Join us as we explore how God's presence can turn fear into wonder, and wonder into a joy worth celebrating and sharing.
Life rarely goes the way we planned, but the Christmas story shows that God is powerfully at work even when everything feels confusing or out of control. This week, we'll discover how Immanuel meets us in our uncertainty with purpose and peace.
We live in a results-obsessed world, where success is measured by what we can count and see. But God calls us to something deeper: obedience that isn't defined by outcomes. In this message, we'll wrestle with the tensions between visible fruit and faithful service, learning how to trust God with the harvest even when our efforts feel unseen or unproductive. It's a reminder that in God's Kingdom, faithfulness is the real success.
Welcome to The Black Rock Podcast, where faith meets real life—and where we're never afraid to try a new snack along the way. Today we're diving into the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, and all the joy, excitement, busyness, and stress that can come with it. But in the middle of packed calendars, family gatherings, shopping lists, and expectations, we're reminded that we can find peace and lasting hope in Christ. So grab a seat—and maybe a snack—and let's jump in.
Life can often feel like a swirl of randomness — suffering, confusion, unanswered questions — leaving us wondering, "Where is God in all this?" This sermon explores how faith changes the way we see the world, helping us look beyond the chaos to the deeper picture of God's presence and purpose. Before we see the evidence, we must choose to believe — and when we do, we discover that God has been there all along, weaving beauty beneath the surface.
Baptism Sunday

Baptism Sunday

2025-11-1637:26

Those being baptized today have made third decisions when it comes to following Jesus.  They have DECIDED to BELIEVE, SURRENDER and GROW.  We celebrate with those today who have decided to follow Jesus, and there is no turning back.
This message will help us discover that the real battles we face are spiritual in nature and require us to fight God's way.  God is on our side and will do more than we can imagine if we depend on Him and follow His ways.
How do we respond when it all seems to go wrong and feel like we are losing the battles we face? We learn from David's example how to face what seems like defeat in order to see God's goodness again in our lives.
Welcome to The Black Rock Podcast — where we chat and chew. Today, we're diving into a timely topic: Halloween. Where did it come from? What's really behind all the costumes and candy? And as followers of Christ, how should we think about trick-or-treating and the deeper battle between good and evil that plays out every day — not just on October 31st. Let's unpack it together.
Join us as we interview the Executive Director of Urban Impact and how they are impacting Bridgeport!
If the gospel really offers people the best life now and eternal life with God, how could we possibly keep it to ourselves? Yet so often, fear or hesitation holds us back. In this final week, we'll discover how God equips us with boldness and confidence to share our faith—courageously, respectfully, and in a way that honors Him and impacts others forever.
If someone asked you how to become a Christian, would you know how to explain it with clarity and confidence? This week, we'll explore how to share the simple yet life-changing message of the gospel—the invitation to believe in Jesus and surrender to Him—so that others can discover the joy of new life and the hope of eternity with God.
It is possible to share our faith with both boldness and kindness. This week we'll unpack 1 Peter 3:15, where we're called to explain the hope we have "with gentleness and respect." If the gospel is truly good news—bringing joy, hope, and love—then the way we share it should reflect the beauty and power of the message itself.
Sharing our faith isn't a church program or one-time event—it's a way of life. God invites us to live with a constant awareness of where He is at work around us and to be ready to join Him in those moments. As 1 Peter 3:15 reminds us, we are to "always be prepared to give an answer" when asked about the hope we have. Each of us has been uniquely created—with our own gifts, stories, and personalities—so we can share Jesus naturally and authentically in the way He designed us.
When it comes to sharing our faith, it all starts in our hearts. If we understand how much God loves us and have received God's forgiveness and joy, that enables us to live with hope. But it all starts with what 1 Peter 3:15 says: "revere Christ as Lord." This week, we examine what it means and what impact it has on our lives when we "revere Christ."
Welcome to The Black Rock Podcast — where faith meets life, and yes, we've got snacks!  This is the place where real conversations happen about what it means to live out our faith in everyday moments. In today's episode, we're diving into the importance of sharing our faith in Christ and being ready to give a reason for the hope we have, just like it says in 1 Peter 3:15. Let's talk about what that looks like, why it matters, and how we can do it with both truth and love. So grab a snack and let's chat and chew!
From the time we are kids, we are taught to share, but when it comes to sharing our faith, it often brings up negative feelings. Some of us think of the pushy salesman or a yelling street corner preacher. Others aren't sure if or why they should share their faith. But what if God's vision for sharing our faith is simpler and far more beautiful? What if it's about loving God and sharing hope?
Acts chapter two gives us a glimpse into the very first church—and it's clear they "devoted themselves" to life together in Christian community. So here's a question worth asking: What does your schedule say you're devoted to? Have you made space for the kind of relationships that encourage your faith, challenge you to grow, and walk with you through life? Real spiritual growth happens when we prioritize community.
God provides many blessings for us. As believers, that reminder should inspire gratitude and thankfulness in our hearts. That gratitude, in turn, should inspire us to share God's goodness with people who haven't experienced it yet.
