The Luby's shooting, also known as the Luby's massacre, was a mass shooting that took place on October 16, 1991 at a Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas. “The Jenny Jones Show” was one of many daytime talk show hosts in the 90's that had viewers tuning in daily to see people spill their secrets, crazy lives of rowdy teenagers, parenthood tests, makeovers, and pretty much any drama in between. A man walks into a bank with what appears to be a bomb around his neck, and a cane that is actually a gun. That man was Brian Wells, he demanded 250,000 dollars.  In June of 1959, in the quiet town of Stettler, Alberta. Raymond and Daisy Cook along with their five young children were found brutally murdered. Their bodies stuffed into a grease pit beneath their own garage.  But the shocking part was who police believed committed the crime. You know the movie When a Stranger Calls? The one about the babysitter who receives a creepy phone call, and the call is coming from inside the house? Well, it was LOOSELY, based on a true story. There have been countless stories, and probably even more film depictions of a teenage girl hired to babysit, and after the children have been put to bed, the babysitter is alone, watching a movie, doing homework, on the phone with a boyfriend, whatever.  Then the phone rings, the caller asks, something along the lines of “have you checked on the children lately”, the babysitter is scared. She locks the door, turns on the light to see if anyone is there, nothing. She eventually calls the police and once the call is traced, she's told the call is coming from inside the house. None of that happened in this story, but somehow this is the source of the urban legend of the babysitter.
