GoBarefoot is a membership-based interactive web portal dedicated to the social sector. It brings together individuals, NGOs, NPOs, and CSR arms of organizations with the mandate of creating a one-stop information website for networking and knowledge sharing.
GoBarefoot presents "DEVELOPMENT SECTOR LEADERSHIP CONVERSATIONS", a series of insightful interviews with seasoned and reputed leaders of the social sector; where they offer us a peek behind the curtain.

For our next session we had Saurabh Taneja, CEO, The Akanksha Foundation.  Saurabh leads a team of 700+ faculty and staff, close to 800 volunteers - all serving 27 schools that educate 10,000 children and a network of 4000 Akanksha alumni across Mumbai and Pune. Previously, Saurabh spent four years as a founding school leader of Acharya Vinoba Bhave School (AVBS), Akanksha's first stand-alone secondary school. During the 4-years of his school leadership, he has ensured that ALL students pass the high stakes Gr 10 exam and join the junior college. For our 8th session we had Neeraj Jain, Country Director India & Director South Asia, PATH.   He oversees the strategic and programmatic engagement and financial operations for a matrix of global and in-country programs implemented across PATH’s offices in India. He manages PATH’s innovative work across different public health verticals like TB/HIV, neglected tropical diseases, maternal and newborn health, nutrition and immunization has the maximum impact. Neeraj is a member of CII’s Nutrition and Public Health Committee and has over 30 years of leadership experience across Asia and Europe. For our next session we had Shriyans Bhandari, Founder & CEO, Greensole.   Shriyans Bhandari is an Indian social entrepreneur, author and co-founder of Greensole. He has done Bachelor of Management studies in finance from Jai Hind College Mumbai and MSM Entrepreneurial Leadership from Babson College Franklin W Olin.   Shriyans is an ardent marathon runner who ran in 85 long-distance races. He started as athletes from Mumbai and run hundreds of kilometers each year and in the process, he went through several pairs of sports shoes. He noticed wasted sneakers that had no future life, just increasing the pollution. This passion gave him a unique business idea of recycling the used shoes. In 2015 Shriyans and his friend Ramesh Dhami decided to recycle old footwear and founded Greensole.
For our next session we had Hisham Mundol, Chief Advisor - India, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF).   EDF’s work in Indian is centered on playing a catalytic role towards a vision of an Indian pathway to shared sustainable prosperity. He started his career in sales, marketing and consulting with Hindustan Unilever, WorldTel, Accenture & Infosys. He subsequently moved to the development sector where he led the National Condoms Programme for the Indian Government’s National AIDS Control Organisation and later set up operations in South Asia for Wikimedia Foundation, promoting projects like Wikipedia. Most recently, he led the work of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation in India (across health, nutrition, adolescence, education, girls & women’s rights and livelihoods, child protection and climate change. 
For our next session we had Shloka Nath, Head of Sustainability and Policy & Advocacy, Tata Trusts.   Shloka Nath currently leads the Sustainability and Policy & Advocacy portfolios at the Tata Trusts, one of India’s leading philanthropic foundations. As head of Sustainability, she is focused on the organization’s work on climate, energy and environment, implementing and funding sustainable and scalable solutions that help both people and nature thrive through India.   As head of Policy and Advocacy, Shloka holds a critical responsibility in advancing the Trusts’ key strategic and policy priorities for greater impact through strong relationships and external liaison with government, relevant industry organisations as well as close work with development sector leaders. For our next session we had Dr. Mukund Rajan, Chairman, ECube Investment Advisors.   Dr Mukund Rajan is the Chairman of ECube Investment Advisors, a first of its kind platform created in 2019 to catalyse Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) changes in Corporate India. Prior to this, he held a number of senior executive positions through his 23-year career with the Tata Group, where he served as the first Brand Custodian of the Tata Group, Chief Ethics Officer of the Group, Chairman of the Tata Global Sustainability Council, and Member of the Group Executive Council at Tata Sons. He is Co-Founder the Indian School of Public Policy and Take Charge, mentoring programme for Catholic youth in Mumbai.   Luis spends his time, with his wife, connecting dots; using their networks to help the organisations are connected with. He is also on the board of Educate Girls and SBI Foundation. Luis is also Chairman of ManipalCigna Health Insurance and Senior Advisor at Morgan Stanley. For our next session we had Anshu Gupta, Founder Director, Goonj.   Popularly known as the Clothing Man and the recipient of 2015 Ramon Magsaysay award, Anshu Gupta founded Goonj with a mission to highlight some basic but ignored needs of people on the development agenda, using clothing as a metaphor. Anshu did double diplomas in Journalism and Advertising and PR, apart from doing a Masters in Economics and started as a freelance journalist. For our next session we had Sumit Tayal, COO, GiveIndia.    Sumit is serving at GiveIndia as COO, to fulfill the organisation’s mission of alleviating poverty by enabling the world to give. Sumit's journey spans consulting, private equity and business operations. Prior to joining GiveIndia, he was the COO for Netscribes, a data and insights firm. Earlier, he led the India investment team for Helix Investments, a US-based private equity fund, and consulted for large Indian corporates while at KPMG. He started his career writing code and managing projects at Tata Infotech and Cognizant. Sumit holds an MBA from IIM Bangalore and a B.E. from NIT, Nagpur.
For our next session we had Vidya Shah, Executive Chairperson, EdelGive Foundation. With over three decades of rich industry experience, Vidya has channelled EdelGive’s structure of giving to include both financial and non-financial support to over 150 grassroots organisations, scaling their budgets, impact, and reach, exponentially.  She also serves on the boards of various prominent Civil Society Organisations such as Akshaya Patra Foundation, Agastya International Foundation, Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy at Ashoka University, Olympic Gold Quest, Mann Deshi Foundation, and the Indian School of Public Policy. She is also a member of the Governing Board of the Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur.
For our next session we had Srikanth Vishwanathan, CEO, Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy.  Srikanth is Chief Executive Officer of Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, a Bengaluru, India based non-profit working towards the mission of transforming quality of life in India’s cities and towns. Srikanth is one of India’s leading practitioners of city governance reforms and municipal finance reforms, particularly on the application of systems thinking to reform agendas in cities.
For our next session we had, Rumana Hamied, Managing Trustee, Cipla Foundation.    Rumana has had a long and diverse history of engagement with social causes. In her professional capacity as a film producer, Rumana mainstreamed issues of gaps in access and affordability in healthcare through her internationally acclaimed documentary film, ‘Fire in the Blood’. Alongside, Rumana has been closely involved with the Hamied Family Foundation, playing a pivotal role in mapping the family’s philanthropic commitment. She is on the board of the Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre, Pune, India. Before joining Dr. Reddy’s Foundation as CEO in 2015, he was the Chief of Party of Bihar Technical Support Program for CARE India. Nalini Saligram, Ph.D, is the Founder & CEO of Arogya World, a global health non-profit committed to changing the course of chronic disease. She is an Ashoka Fellow. Under Nalini’s leadership, Arogya World designs and implements scalable, science-based diabetes prevention programs in Indian schools, workplaces, and the community. Mary McGovern is a trained attorney, who has worked as a community volunteer for local and international causes. Her most recent work involved serving as President of the Board of Directors of Women First International Fund. During her tenure, she lead the Board, working in collaboration with staff, through a transformational change of the organization, including a name change, fundamental program overhaul, and a new organizational governance structure. Ingrid worked on some of India’s greatest brands at Lintas and Grey Worldwide before transitioning to the non-profit sector in 1998 with CRY (Child Rights and You), where she was CEO from 2004-08.She then served as Secretary General at CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, as Executive Director of CHILDLINE India Foundation, and as CEO of HIVOS India. Ms. Srinath is a member of the Securities Exchange Board of India’s technical committee on the Social Stock Exchange and of the NITI Aayog Sub-Committee on the Voluntary Sector. For our next session, we had Chetna Sinha is the Founder-Chairperson of the Mann Deshi Bank and Mann Deshi Foundation.  Chetna Gala Sinha is an activist, farmer and banker. She is the recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar, India’s highest civilian award for women who work in the area of women’s empowerment. She is a member of the BRICS women's business alliance. She has served as a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum in Davos (2018), Switzerland and as a Co-Chair of Financial Inclusion at the W20 Summit (2018) in Argentina. Chetna founded the Mann Deshi Foundation in 1996 in Mhaswad, a drought- stricken area of Maharashtra, with the aim of economically and socially empowering rural women. In1997, she set up the Mann Deshi Mahila Sahakari Bank-India’s first bank for and by rural women.  Mann Deshi has supported over half a million women and aims to reach one million women by 2024.
