Earlier this month we had a conversation with a friend of our show, Latvian-American journalist Juris Kaža about the current security issues in the Baltics - here we discuss all the recent drone and MIG incursions and think about the appropriate response. (I do have to apologize about the sound quality though, we had a lot of technical issues.)Please, donate to the Revanche group so that the Ukrainian army could help everyone and deal with our security issues on a permanent basis:https://car4ukraine.com/campaigns/autumn-harvest-eastern-border/Juris's substack:https://juriskaa.substack.com/Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Roman Alekhine caused a scandal in the Z-Vatnik blogosphere by (shockingly) getting exposed as totally corrupt - this has resulted to a series of events that have been as lucky for everyone who supports Ukraine as hitting the jacpot in Vegas! Please, donate for an armoured car for the Revanche group of the Ukrainian army:https://car4ukraine.com/campaigns/autumn-harvest-eastern-borderSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Due to the recent security breaches of Polish and Estonian airspace, Zapad 2025 military excercises by Russia and Belarus went somewhat unnoticed. And that's a shame, because they ended up being a complete waste of money, time, sanity and anything even remotely resemling common sense.Pictures, related to the episode:I. Aivazovsky, "Distribution of Food"Classic example of a nonperson being deletedPeculiarities of the National Hunt did it better than the excercise.https://car4ukraine.com/campaigns/autumn-harvest-eastern-border - Link to donate for the carhttps://discord.gg/6s5nTqRW - Discord inviteSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. A few years ago, me and my dear friend Alex (of History Impossible fame) had a deep conversation about how we’re slowly moving to a “Rule by assasination” world order. Seems that we’re at least one step closer to that, and this seemed like a VERY appropriate time to discuss political philosophy with Alex again.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. In this one, I explain some very important cultural aspects related to the war and the post-Soviet sphere, while covering all the bullshit related to Russian drone incident in Poland. I also haven’t slept for two days straight because of this. Please, donate to the car for Ukrainian soldiers of the Revanche group here:https://car4ukraine.com/campaigns/autumn-harvest-eastern-border/Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. In this episode, by multiple requests, there's a deluxe edition of vatnik tears - because I've seen Putin's trolls becoming more active again lately, with two main modes of action, and in this episode I demolish them both thoroughly by using quotes of their own propaganda. Also, here's a video for you by the Ukrainian unit for whom we're collecting money so that they can get their military trucks:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWY7PTnHeVkAnd here's a link to the donation page with more details included. Today I am joined by Brock D. Bierman to discuss his activities in helping Ukraine via the Ukraine Focus organisation - especially their latest project where they're offering Zelensky's truck for sale to gather funds for very necessary ambulances for the Ukraine armed forces!Donate hereLearn more about the truck hereSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Pro-Russian western people love to use 'tradition Christian values' when they argue their position. They mistakenly presume that what these values mean must be the same both for them and for Russians. This episode should clear any such delusions, because to the vatniks, they are no better than everyone else - in fact, western conservatives should abhor Russian 'traditional values' more than anyone else, as vatniks prefer their God-Emperor and Imperrium over, you know, Jesus. To the point that even the Orthodox Church itself - the proper one, that exists outside Russia - considers them blasphemers. So, grab your pitchforks and torches, put on your pointed had and let's burn some heretics, there's a LOT of blasphemy in this episode.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Greetings, Comrades! This is a news episode - including vatnik tears. But, like I said in the Gonzo episode - war shall not be sanitized, and there is no point writing stuff that's not inspired. This one doesn't require any previous episodes or catching up, made to be shared and with an emotional kick. And I think I've found my style too. I hope you'll enjoy this new format.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode, I cover information that You should be aware of - the kind that various other actors would rather you not think about too much. Sure, there's news information related to the war - but I use it to illustrate a point about why You should truly always read the metaphorical "fine print". The philosophical theme of this episode is about concepts of control, lies feeding more lies and AI algorythms being tied to the propaganda machine. And yes, Russia's economy and logistics are extra screwed because they've got piles and piles of this "fine print" stacked on top of themselves...but this is a more mindful episode than just vatnik news. It's one of those where I hope that you'll go "hmm" at the end and reflect a bit about various similarities and patterns. And I definitely didn't succeed as much as I'd like, but that's because I had to make cuts. However, it's all for something truly epic that I plan to give to You in the future.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. Now that the insanity with doing my dad’s last will and reaching a moment of catharsis is over, we get back to something more structured. Don’t worry, the soul is there, John would not let me do otherwise. We talk about research, culture and how miscommunication and thinking what we presume are normal cause a lot of difficulties for everyone.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. The Godfather of Metal, the Prince of Darkness, a true legend has passed. This also triggered the last thing my father wanted me to do – and make a proper oldschool episode. Everything is in there, except I did not eat the shrooms as I couldn’t open the lid.And in doing this, I realized that I have become Gonzo. And quite likely the only one around to do it the right way. Shit, I am competent now. That’s why the old number system doesn’t feel right anymore. This…this is a path of catharsis, memories, weirdest stories that my dad have, and some less weird – and quite a lot of other tangents. If you’ve only been listening throughout the war, this might not be for you, at least at the start – however, I welcome You aboard the crazy train anyways.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. The previous episode signalled the beginning of the end. Putin is now set on a path that will inevitably lead to a new time of troubles in Russia. He's now cracking down on vatniks, but we're at a point where each new crackdown increases the unreast more than it put's down. And because of the system he's built, he can't do otherwise.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The self-proclaimed futurologist, one of Girkin's best friends and a true believer in Z ideals Maxim Kalashnikov finally breaks down. A man who sincerely thinks that all that is good in the world has died because of stupidity of his political leaders. A true villainous breakdown of a Z bastard who, even still, thinks that Russia is inherently good - and a cathartic experience for the rest of us!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. As everyone in the Z-vatnik community is getting more and more gloomy, Girkin’s recent text made me understand how to best formulate how Putin and vatniks see Russia. You have to treat it as a religious entity, and it starts to make a lot more sense.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. In the past few days, Russian callousness and casual racism has led to conflicts with Azerbaijan on an unprecedented scale. Traditionally viewed as one of Kremlin's closest allies, Baku is now fed up with how it's imperialist neighbour is treating Azeri nationals and Aliyev is striking back. A lot of what's happening is amoral, dirty and outright petty - but it hits Kremlin straight into national pride.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. We've reached the point in the war where vatniks start to openly confirm my predictions about what's going to happen with Russia in the near future. Also, vatnik poetry. If there's one episode of my show that's a "must listen", it's this one.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Today, I'm bringing You an episode full of feel-good niceness, happy emotions and pleasant vibes. How? Well, because the vatnik tears in these few days have been just epic. And their hatred of SPIEF knows no bounds. I don't really understand why, though, as that too was a shitshow....Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. Hosted on Acast. Russian government has started to nationalize private property, starting with an airfield. No surprises there, because why would people's property be of any value of the state if the lives of Russia's citizens are considered worthless by the kremlin elite. In today's episode, I'll show you the depths of exactly how far this goes. That, and, of course, vatnik comments on the ongoing events.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/theeasternborder. you may be right about country music
it seems like your episodes occasionally contain virtually 0 actual information and infinite propaganda. do you want to shed your audience?
i hate the cottage cheese ads so much
i emailed acast and told them their ads are bad and they should feel bad.
sorry Kristaps, but these days, press should be combat trained and armed. marked as press, sure, but if you collect information, such as image or video, you may become a target, and the strategy on the battlefield could change dramatically and it doesnt make sense for someone to allow themselves to feel like a liability or defenseless asset to add to the list of priorities or distractions. We are in the age of information wars. This entire war has been.
acast is plugging your ad space with minute long ads for cottage chesse presented by lesbians. they hate you. they dont want you to succeed. you need a new podcast hosting service.

"Default Latvian People" might be my new favorite thing.
one of your best episodes, and you put out some bangers. this is a classic, very much in character of the core of this podcast and also current. these are always great and appreciated.
congratulations for your wedding. Slava Ukrajini from Slovenian brother
lock that traitor for life
they also separated your "and as always happiness is *mandatory*" from the rest of the podcast lol
on god the acast ads happen at the most inopportune times... last time you were vociferously cursing the EU and this time you were talking about kids being "doomed to die" (spoiler: we all are). this is not the only time... "X" ad boycotters should take note... publicity is publicity...its adjacency to a certain topic is really of no consequence... the ad space will be used by someone... the fear of adjacency may indicate a guilty conscience if anything lol
"Shoigu!!!"
ah! a ghost!
"Vokeness"
I'm enjoying learning more about under Soviet regime, thank you!
I enjoyed this episode getting some other voices the podcast and it sounds like Kristaps did too. I am also interested to hear a continuation of the series about colonization of the Russian far east and Alaska.
this is easily one of the best episodes from the entire podcast series
i wonder how this will age... oh.
