My mother and I talk about food: nesting tummies, being a form of identity and statement, all through the tone of nostalgia and rich air of village in my mothers words. For my grandmother food is a medium to nest people and make connections. From the neighbor- Maggi Aunty to the towns shepherd – Adh Amma , she has nested through food. The culture of food and communal harmony goes hand in hand, that our family takes pride in. The food is nothing like the estate owners fancy Quiche and pies, but it is for the people.
