Boxers and huge City fans Ricky and Campbell Hatton are the latest guests on the Official Man City Podcast. Ricky is a former light-welterweight world champion having boxed between 1997 and 2012. During his career, he was synonymous with City, wearing sky blue shorts and entering the ring to Club anthem 'Blue Moon'. This attracted attention from other City supporters, with thousands following his fights from Manchester to all corners of the world as he came up against the best of the best including Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio. His 2008 fight with Juan Lazcano was held at the Etihad Stadium in front of 55,000 fans and fellow City mad stars Noel and Liam Gallagher carried his belts into the ring for his bout with Paulie Malignaggi. His thick Manchester accent and his humble and personable demeanour means he remains a huge hit amongst City fans - often stopping for autographs and photos on his regular visits to the Etihad Stadium. 23-year-old Campbell is Ricky's son and still in the early days of his boxing career, although he possesses all of the same enthusiasm for City. After a sensational return from injury, John Stones is the latest guest on the Official Man City podcast. The England international sits down with hosts Nedum Onuoha and Rob Pollard to discuss his glittering career to date. Arriving at City in 2016 shortly after Pep Guardiola, Stones has since developed into arguably the best defender in the world. During the episode, Onuoha, a former City defender himself, marvels at how Stones steps into midfield and dictates play alongside Rodrigo. Stones' ability to come forward was a key component in last season's historic Treble success and again looks to be central to Guardiola's plans in the closing months of the 2023/24 campaign. That's not to ignore his capabilities off the ball, with the 29-year-old more than comfortable going toe-to-toe with the most fearsome forwards in the game. As one of the podcast's most requested guests, Stones is clearly a fans' favourite at the Etihad too. Throughout this 45-minute feature, we get a fascinating insight into Stones' mentality and how he drowns out the noise to focus on the next game and being the best player he can be. Our No.5 also reflects on some of the highlights in eight incredibly successful years at City. Settle in, you won't want to miss this! Learn more about your ad choices. Phil Foden says he can only ever see himself playing for City. The boyhood Blue, former Etihad ball-boy and Academy graduate revealed his dream of being a one-club player in the latest episode of the official Man City Podcast, ‘In Conversation With…’ Asked whether he’d ever considered playing anywhere else or even going out on loan when he was younger, Foden said: “No, honestly. I just always see myself as a City player. “I always just thought if I work hard enough and I know what my ability is about, I can push in the team and over time I started getting more minutes and now I'm probably getting the most minutes I've had this year “So yeah, I've worked really hard for it and it's thanks to the manager also for trusting me, so I have to thank the manager for that for trusting me and keeping me around.” The Academy pin-up boy, Foden is an inspiration for the youngsters coming through the ranks. And after watching three more graduates – Micah Hamilton, Oscar Bobb and Rico Lewis - star in  the 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade – he says nothing makes him happier than seeing others follow in his footsteps. Nathan Ake is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast. The Dutch international joined the Club in 2020 from Bournemouth and, over the following three years, has become a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side. His versatility, consistency and intelligence have been of immense value to a City side consistently challenging on multiple fronts, with Ake often called upon to play in a number of defensive roles. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the Dutch international though, and he discusses the important words of encouragement he received from Pep Guardiola after an injury-hit first season at the Etihad in 2020/21. The defender has more than repaid the manager’s faith during his time at the Club and played the full 90 minutes in our historic Champions League triumph over Inter in June. Unsurprisingly, the podcast also involves plenty of discussions around that momentous occasion, including the preparations for the game and the celebrations that followed! Finally, Ake also reveals which former City player comes out on top as his toughest opponent to date. It’s an episode not to be missed! Learn more about your ad choices.
