On the afternoon of December 14th, 2025, an eerie, uncharacteristic silence settled over 255 S. Chadbourne Avenue. On most days, the sprawling New England-style farmhouse in Brentwood teemed with life. You never knew who might walk through the front door …Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Betty White, Martin Short. Icons of the entertainment world were drawn there, lured by the home’s storied past and its colorful owners: Rob and Michele Reiner. The first person to pull up to its towering iron gates that day in mid-December was no celebrity, but rather a massage therapist arriving for a 2 p.m. appointment. When no one answered, the masseuse reached out to Romy, the couple’s 27-year-old daughter. Romy arrived just after 3:30 and moved through her childhood home with deliberate steps, that low-level worry turning into a cold, sharp fear. She searched room after room until she finally reached the primary suite. Romy pushed open the heavy doors and screamed at what she saw. There, on the bed she used to sneak into as a child after she had a bad dream, lay her father, the life drawn from his face, the cream-colored sheets stained a deep, unmistakable red. She didn’t know it at the time, but her mother rested only a few feet away mercifully out of Romy’s view.  It didn’t take police long to make an arrest. The suspect came as a surprise to the public but not to those close to the Reiner family. Through lies and false documents, Mary Carole shockingly got her hands on almost $15 million from Banc of California. In October 2025, nearly six years after he vanished into a summer storm, Chance Englebert’s remains were found at the base of a rugged cliff within Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska. The 25-year-old husband and father was last seen alive on July 6th, 2019, after storming off on foot following a heated argument with his wife’s family. He’d picked the wrong night to leave on foot as a brutal summer storm rolled in not long after. Police claim Chance’s death was a tragic accident. His family, however, believe otherwise. In S1 E1 of Dirty Money Moves, we left off with a discussion about Mary Carole McDonnell’s seemingly bright future. This is a woman who proclaimed herself to be the heiress to the McDonnell Douglas fortune. McDonnell Douglas was a major aerospace manufacturing company which was purchased by Boeing in 1997. In the previous episode, we also delved into Mary Carole’s life and discovered the truth about her family history, which had nothing to do with the aerospace industry. Mary Carole had a tendency to lie and overspend. Despite that, her career path in the tv business led her to being hired as the Executive VP of programming for Raycom Media. She started making good money, and bought real estate like it was going out of style. It seemed like the phony heiress was doing whatever she could to live up to the fake persona, spending lavishly and racking up debt. Eventually, Mary Carole began building a media empire of her own, Bellum Entertainment, while maintaining her position at Raycom. It went well …for a while. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Westdale Mall had its grand opening just in time for the 1979 Christmas season. It instantly became a popular hangout. Many high school kids got their first job at the mall, including 18-year-old Michelle Martinko. Tragically, Michelle was fatally stabbed in the Westdale Mall parking lot on December 19th, 1979. The violent incident dissolved all sense of safety at the mall, making it feel like the most dangerous place in Cedar Rapids. Her killer would remain elusive for nearly 40 years. In 2018, a wealthy heiress named Mary Carole McDonnell walked into Banc of California in Los Angeles, CA to deliver homemade pies to some of the commercial bankers who worked there. The pies were a “thank you” from Mary Carole for all of the hard work and effort put into the $15 million loan the bank was about to fund for the heiress. The bankers were thankful for the delicious pies, but had no idea this would be the last time Mary Carole would be seen in the United States. The first payment on the substantial loan came due but Mary Carole was nowhere to be found. The bank soon learned that Mary Carole never intended to repay the loan as nearly all of the documentation provided was falsified. The FBI got involved and today, Mary Carole McDonnell faces several federal charges and has been placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. In June 2018, Tristan Beaudette and his brother-in-law Scott McCurdy had left their wives in Orange County to embark on a final camping trip together before Tristan and his wife Erica relocated to the Bay Area. Their home for the night …Malibu Creek State Park, near beautiful Malibu Beach. After a night by the campfire, Beaudette and McCurdy went to their respective tents and settled in for bed. Already asleep inside the separate tents were their most treasured possessions: Scott’s two boys, ages 3 and 5 and Tristan’s daughters, 2 and 4. Sometime after 1 in the morning on June 22, 2018, Scott was awakened by what he thought were fireworks. Then he heard Tristan’s daughters crying. Scott told his boys to stay put while he went to Tristan’s tent to investigate. There, he saw Tristan lying face down in the center of the tent and his daughters huddled together, crying. Tristan’s face was covered in blood.  Given Malibu’s reputation as a safe beach town, nobody believed Tristan’s murder was a random act of violence.
