Floating offshore wind is an emerging technology with an exciting future – providing access to abundant wind power over deeper waters than bottom-fixed turbines. But how can countries harness the potential of this technology to reduce their carbon emissions and meet ambitious climate goals?
In the second episode of our special edition documentary podcast, we explore two important aspects that will enable countries to move from initial pilot projects to wide scale deployment – technology innovation and policy support. In particular, we’ll hear from Jesper Moller, Head of Offshore Concepts & Solutions at Siemens Gamesa, and DNV’s Lucy Craig, Vice President of Technology & Innovation, about the key developments in floater technology and the wider infrastructure needed for them to thrive.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Bringsværd, Head of Floating Wind at Equinor, and Stephane Cicolella, Business Integration Manager & Commercial Director at Eolfi (a Shell company), also give their views on the need for policymakers to create the conditions required to prove the viability of this potentially revolutionary technology.
