One of the biggest mindset hurdles you need to overcome if you know in your heart that a rebrand is on the cards… is the actual practical flow on effect of it all. You know when you WANT to do something, but you don’t know HOW to do it… it usually puts you off, right? So you either procrastinate, deleting it off your list, or constantly shoving it to the bottom. But all this is doing is either stagnating your growth, or even worse, sending you on a backwards trajectory. And the longer you leave it, the harder it gets. Because the more marketing collateral you create, the longer your “brand” trail becomes. And not only that, the more familiar people become with your existing, non-aligned branding. Most often, everything comes to a head, or there is a catalyst that forces you to FINALLY make the decision to bite the bullet and commit to a rebrand. Once you make that decision, not only will you feel lighter, but you’ll be determined to make it work. And when you have a clear pathway with an action plan of how to pull it off, and it all makes sense in your mind, it feels more achievable.  So if you’re at that point, or *almost* at that point, first I want to congratulate you.  And second, I’m going to give you the exact steps I share with my 1:1 clients to not only successfully pull off a rebrand so your audience comes onboard to cheer you on rather than scratch their heads in doubt… but also LEVERAGE your rebrand to have the most impact possible… including a cashflow injection! So let’s wrap your head around the HOW with three tips to leverage your rebrand. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s getting harder and harder to stand out online these days. Everybody is drinking from the same water fountain… as in… posting on social media to market their small business, using their website to either sell their wares or capture leads, and leaning into digital marketing vs traditional marketing in general. I’ve talked before about feeling like a small fish in a big pond. Feeling invisible. Struggling to demand attention. Watching your ideal customers float on by in ignorant bubbles. Now obviously there are many layers to this, and I’m not a marketing guru, but as a brand specialist, there are some blaringly obvious mistakes that small business owners are making that I can’t help but share with you, so you can either avoid them or fix them… and discover the secret to standing out online from the stance of your visual brand at the very least. Once I reveal them, you can’t unsee them. So listen now to find out how you can get your visual brand to get you more attention online! 📣 The Branding Hub is NOW OPEN! As mums in business, we seek freedom to live life in a way that is aligned with our values AND gives us flexibility to be present for our families. But here’s the thing. To get to a point in your business where you actually have the “balance” of these things pinned down takes a bit more than it appears on the surface. It has been a very long time since I’ve ever even contemplated that I might ever be able to live a balanced life. To me, life is just life. Business is life. Family is life. Hobbies are life. Exercise is life. Everything is connected. Integrated. And truly, this is the secret to letting go of “balance” and stepping into your version of “success”. Something I’ve noticed is that more women are starting businesses from home than ever before. And I am HERE FOR IT. The hardest parts in these early stages though, are gaining traction, keeping yourself accountable to your goals, and figuring out what to focus on in order to get your business to a point where you CAN enjoy the fruits of your labour. So if you are feeling a little stuck in your circumstances, or maybe a little resentful that you don’t have the time or energy to put into your business to get it to where you need it to be, here are a few tips (from lived experience!) that have helped me tackle my mindset demons and take BIG LEAPS in my business. In the vast landscape of well-intentioned but largely unregulated business coaching, there exists a minefield of opinions when it comes to branding. For online business owners navigating the often daunting task of building their new brand, separating the good advice from the bad can be incredibly overwhelming. In an era where anyone with a laptop and access to Canva can claim to be a branding expert, it's crucial to sift through the noise and discern the wisdom from the waffle. So today, as a visual brand designer, illustrator and stylist who has the bachelor degree to prove it, I’m here to shine a light on five of the dumbest pieces of branding advice I see commonly spruiked by business coaches hunting their new business owner prey. From the suggestion that a brand is a mere afterthought to the temptation of snagging a logo for the price of a latte, we'll delve into why these tempting shortcuts can lead to long-term headaches for businesses seeking to make their mark and build their brand legacy. 🥂 POP THE CHAMPAGNE – THE BRANDING HUB OPENS THIS THURSDAY 7 MARCH! Me too, but referral marketing, affiliates and authentic connections are all back in abundance after the unspeakable blip on the radar (i.e. the Covid era). If you’re anything like me, you breathe a sigh of sweet relief if you can hide behind a computer or phone screen rather than face the daunting reality of any situation that puts you in the spotlight. Something I love about this time of year, on top of all the beautiful festive moments and memories, is the opportunity to rest and reflect on the year that was, with a fresh new door opening to a new year just around the corner. I’m a traditionalist when it comes to setting goals. I know you can set them anytime, that the time of year really doesn’t matter, but a New year to me is like starting a crisp, white unmarked notebook. It almost carries the smell of anticipation and a tangible sense of excitement. So if you’re like me, an anti-hustler who thrives in the slow moments with time to process and reflect, but you also love a structured guide to follow, listen to this episode and take notes as you go. To thank you for listening to the podcast this year, sharing it with your friends and generally being awesome, I want to share with you my four step reflections and gratitude process to help you finish 2023 with clarity and gratitude, and to reset and refocus your goals for a prosperous 2024. You’ve most likely heard the quote: You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, by Jim Rohn. And it makes sense, right? Think about when you perhaps got caught up in the wrong crowd at high school and the decisions that flowed on from that. Or maybe how that applies to a sporting team. I know for a fact that my girls play a much better quality game of netball when they’re playing with a team filled with strong players rather than the opposite, where they seem to have forgotten how to catch a ball! But how does this apply to business? And how can you consciously hand pick your own influence circle to thrive in business? Well first of all, it takes courage. Just like breaking away from the cool group or having the guts to say no to peer pressure, it takes a certain resolve to take the steps required to invest your time, money and energy into people who you know will help you to stay true to your own values, mission, and most importantly, life and business goals. Listen to this episode to find out how I choose my own influence circle, and how you can too! As we start to wind down for 2023, it’s time to reflect on the year that has been and what lies ahead. I know it’s been a weird year for a lot of brands. We have seen businesses closing their doors. Perhaps even ones we thought were doing so well. And this is disconcerting in itself. But that doesn’t mean it has to happen to YOU.. Perhaps you made plans or dreamt up big lofty goals at the beginning of the year, but then well… life happened. Or really, 2023 happened. And I feel like we’ve been saying that about every year since 2020. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Or should we say, curiouser and curiouser? But what this highlights to me (and not just from a marketing perspective), is that more than ever before, you can’t simply follow someone else’s formulas, strategies or tactics and expect success to flow into your business. You have to pave your own way. I believe that we will get through this economic speed bump, which has undoubtedly impacted the small business community in general. But the only way through is to stay true to your vision; your mission and your brand. Keep your “why” closer than ever before. Never stop investing in your brand, because above all else, at the end of the day, even if your sales aren’t quite what you had hoped for, if your brand is strong, you will make it out the other side! Stronger. So moving forward into 2024, with all of that in mind, I want to share with you a sort of journey if you will. Listen to this episode to learn my six steps to elevate your brand in 2024. I've witnessed first-hand how easy it is for female business owners to drift off-course and succumb to influences that detract from their true purpose. This inevitably leads to burn-out, disillusionment and unrealistic expectations. Sound familiar? Every year, without fail, I have conversations with female business owners. They’re running businesses from home, marketing online, juggling the care of their children and household, succumbing to the piling pressures of Christmas holidays impending. They’re EXHAUSTED. Shattered even. I see them limping to an invisible finish line. And it literally pains me. Because if they shifted their mindset and implemented a specific set of tools and strategies throughout the year, they wouldn’t be feeling that way. And if they were, they’d know the antidote. Listen to this episode to learn the art of leading with femininity, and how this concept can give you strength to grow your business sustainably and purposefully. Confession time. I wasn’t going to record a podcast this week. I ran out of time. I’m low on energy. I have had meetings and clients to serve. I’ve been escorting my girls to sporting events, music commitments and extra school things. The puppy has been particularly naughty. Some might call these excuses. I call them life. Some say you need to make sacrifices to grow your business. But my question to you is: which sacrifices are actually worth it? But which ones are necessary? Which ones are detrimental to you? Which ones are beneficial? Remember, where you invest your time is a literal flashing neon sign that shows what’s most important to you. So how can you focus on graceful growth, whilst still enjoying your life and being mindful of your energy as a woman in business? Listen now to hear my thoughts. I chatted briefly on the podcast a couple of weeks ago about the impact that consumer behaviour has on the decisions of our potential clients to work with us or not. If you haven’t listened to that episode, go and catch it now. I touched on facing rejection in your business, and how adapting to change in general consumer behaviour can have a positive impact on the decision making process. Basically, on whether or not you can nurture a “yes” out of a potential client or customer. But a “no” isn’t always a hard “no”. Think about it like this. Perhaps they’re saying no not because of something you’ve said or done, or they don’t like your offer, or they don’t like the sound of your voice, or your hair, your they think you’re ugly (jokes, our minds are pretty funny the way they jump to conclusions like this though right!?). Maybe they are saying “no” because they actually need you to help them step towards a “yes”! I’ve made a HEAP of mistakes along my journey of 17 years as a business owner. I could probably fill an entire journal with them, and then some. Because I’m still making them. But without mistakes, there is no learning. And without learning, there is no growth. It’s painful, sure. But ain’t it the truth with anything in life?! Here’s the thing though. If you don’t make any kind of choice, or decision, or risk, you never get anywhere. The most motivating question you need to ask yourself is: “am I ok with staying stuck where I am?” If you’re not willing to fail, how will you learn what it takes to be successful? Listen to this episode to hear my raw and honest pathway to business growth, and how you can switch your mindset to do the same.
