Yes, sometimes we are envious of someone, because he/she has something that we do not have. We have grown up hearing that it is bad to be envious and jealous. So, whenever we feel envy and jealousy, we push this feeling aside, or even judge ourselves for it. What makes you envious? Seeing other people who have A happy relationship? A family? Kids? A good job? A higher position? A higher salary? Material things like a bigger house, a car or jewellery? A different lifestyle? What I want you to understand: Being envious of anything of the above (or something else) is nothing bad! Instead, it is a very important indicator, what your real desires in life are! I am sharing with you also my personal insights what my own envy told me about becoming a mother, focusing on my career and doing public speaking. What is it that makes you envy? Use it to define the right targets for you! Whatever you are lacking now – remember that you just done have it YET! If you need guidance to define your targets in the right way, check out the episode that I made about reaching the own goals: #36 – Define, feel and reach your goals I am happy to support you that you can have a successful and fulfilling career by being able to show your true, authentic self! Therefore, this podcast is based on three pillars: Self-confidence & self-esteem Managing your emotions Concrete communication techniques based on NLP And in each episode, you will hear about one of them. – Subscribe to not miss any important points! What is a trigger? What is triggering you emotionally – something that somebody says or does that makes you angry, aggressive, sad or even panicking? At your workplace, in your family, in your network of friends or even just by walking around in the city? What can you do when you recognize that you got triggered and you are close to overreact or have done already? First: be proud of yourself that you are already reflecting your own behaviour in such a way! How many people get triggered and just let out their aggressiveness without questioning it?! Here are the 5 steps that I explain in detail in this episode how you can handle it when you get triggered: Recognize your emotions and thoughts Ask yourself: Why are you reacting like this? Does this remind you of something? Zoom out! How would a neutral person assess this situation? Conclude: Is it a personal trigger or something you really have to set boundaries against it? Decide on your next action: Do you want to talk to a neutral person about it or even give the person, who has triggered you, a feedback? I am happy to support you that you can have a successful and fulfilling career by being able to show your true, authentic self! Therefore, this podcast is based on three pillars: • Self-confidence & self-esteem • Managing your emotions • Concrete communication techniques based on NLP And in each episode, you will hear about one of them. – Subscribe to not miss any important points! Are you desperately looking for a job? You write applications, you reach out to companies, you network and try to get in contact with recruiters and hiring managers – without success? I am now a hiring manager myself, and I have observed that many people make at least one out of these three mistakes: They are downgrading their own competences They are not able to keep their energy up in the right moment They are not empathetic enough when handing in their application From the perspective of a hiring manager, these three mistakes would DISTRACT me from a candidate applying to the position that I have open, no matter how good the CV or cover letter looks like! I am therefore sharing with you in this episode, what you should do to avoid making these mistakes. I would be happy to support you that you can have a successful and fulfilling career by being able to show your true, authentic self! You don’t follow your New Year’s resolutions anymore? Is it now too late for changing something in 2024? – NO!!! It is never too late to define targets for you, no matter if you define them later in February, in spring or in summer! It is the most important that you realize that you have to change something - in your behaviour or in your mindset – so that something in your life can change! Because as Albert Einstein said: “It is the definition of being insane, to do the same things again and again and expect different results!” To really make a change in your life, you learn in this episode, how you define the right targets for you. Start by brainstorming with these questions: 1. Where would you like to be during the next month? 2. Who would you like to spend your time with? 3. What would you like to try? 4. What would you like to do more often? 5. What would you like to learn? 6. What do you want to achieve? 7. What is really important for you? 8. What experience of the last year would you like to make again? 9. What do you not want to tolerate anymore? And what do you want instead of it? Identify your most important answers, and formulate your targets according to the SMART formula, also explained in this episode: #36 – Define, feel and reach your goals The podcast ‘Spotlight your TRUE self’ is based on three pillars: • Self-confidence & self-esteem • Managing your emotions • Concrete communication techniques based on NLP And in each episode, you will hear about one of them. Joppe Quaedvlieg, originally from the Netherlands, has many years experience of supporting foreigners in Finland as a career coach, helping them to find a job. The success of his support is grounded on communicating with his coachees in an empathetic and conscious way – and finding a good answer to the question ‘What do you really want?’. Instead of responding in general, shallow platitudes, Joppe has found a way to make people feeling comfortable to talk about their wishes and career ambitions in an honest, detailed and authentic way – and that’s what Descriptive Communication means. Why it is so important to talk about visual and emotional details that matter to us – for example in a job interview – and if I am succeeding myself in trying out Descriptive Communication, this is what you will hear in this episode! Imagine, you would always know how to keep a conversation going – instead of experiencing an embarrassing pause, this moment of silence that feels like forever! … that you can directly apply in your everyday life! What makes us so afraid to speak in front of others? Studies even have shown that more people are afraid of public speaking than are afraid of dying! For many years, I was very shy and always super nervous when I had to speak in front of others. Both my body and my voice were shivering, I was sweating like hell and was just worried that anyone can think badly about what I am saying or how I look like. It was a fear of being rejected. Nowadays I enjoy doing public speaking as a hobby, I am a member of the Toastmasters organization and just recently have won an international contest in improvised speaking. Here are three tips to overcome your fear to speak in front of other people: 1) Record voice messages and videos 2) Visualize that you are speaking in front of others 3) Use small occasion to practice The podcast ‘Spotlight your TRUE self’ is based on three pillars: • Self-confidence & self-esteem • Managing your emotions • Concrete communication techniques based on NLP And in each episode, you will hear about one of them.
