Description

Meet Amber & Annabel, your infertile best friends. They love wine, carbs, their dogs and their sugar daddies (sorry - husbands).

With over a decade of infertility and IVF between them, the girls get together every week to talk to you and their incredible guests about the unspoken world of fertility.

It's a space to feel seen and a space where discussing the brutal realities of fertility isn't a taboo. From the moments you start trying to conceive, through to IVF, donor conception and all the rest, the girls are here to talk you through it.

Armed with a brew in one hand and a microphone in the other, these two are a force to be reckoned with. They're here to remind you that despite feeling like you're navigating the loneliest place in the world, you're really, truly not.

New episodes released every Friday!

We hope the title somewhat gives it away, but this week the topic is of course the changing abortion laws in America as a result of the Roe VS Wade case. Please take this as a content warning.  The girls are nearing the end of Series 3 and does Annabel really not want to be here or is the hayfever just a bit much?! This week the girls discuss the overturning of Roe VS Wade in America, a very current affair that everyone's discussing. From a woman's right to her own body, a man's role in the process and whether the reversal of abortion rights is anything short of dangerous and problematic, the girls have a LOT to say on the matter.  In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', our ovary-acter has a problem with smokers at a children's party! The Confession Booth arrives with THREE great confessions, and if you're an a*hole to your partner... check your toothbrush.  You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. Can you believe we're 3/4 of the way through series 3?! This week the girls are chatting diversity in films and predominantly the use of a 'fat suit' in the upcoming Matilda film with Emma Thompson starring as the infamous Miss Trunchbull. Is there still a stereotype regarding the fat, scary headmistress or is this a case of sticking to the book? With the changing of other characters (such as a Black Miss Honey), would it have been deviating too much to *not* make Miss Trunchbull a fat lady? Should they have too hired a fat actress as opposed to putting Emma Thompson in a suit? How far do we blur the lines between acting and authenticity, and should certain roles be reserved for people who are part of certain minorities? In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', the girls are talking secondhand selling. Is it really 'never worn' if you're taking a photo of yourself in it to sell? Or is this a little bit *too* pedantic? The Confession Booth comes through and it divides Amber and Annabel as to who is the a*hole, and it gets them missing office culture. You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. TW: *PLEASE NOTE THIS EPISODE DISCUSSES BABY LOSS, ABORTION, SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, INFERTILITY, PROTECTED CHARACTERISTICS AND MENTIONS A DISABILITY SLUR FOR THE PURPOSE OF DISCUSSION IN THIS EPISODE*The GRRRLS are back and this week they're discussing just that - with the release of Lizzo's latest single, Grrrls, and the inclusion (and since removal) of an offensive slur, they discuss where creative freedom stops and personal responsibility begins.  Discussing how quickly she changed her lyrics when the issue was raised and whether she has been forgiven by the right people, it's certainly an episode with food for thought as the girls dive deep into the use of offensive language in creative work. Is using offensive slurs in the form of art EVER okay? Has Lizzo been let off the hook too easily? And is our society so ableist that we've brushed over the issue a lot quicker than we would if any other protected characteristic had been referenced? In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', it's an emotional topic. After the recent, horrific school shooting in America, social media has been plagued with posts, TikToks and conversation about whether American's care more about their guns than they do the lives of children, and with the case of Roe vs Wade, the comparison between gun laws and abortion laws in the USA. Does the comparison between aborted embryos and living children take away from those who have experienced baby loss at any stage, or is it a comparison we should be listening to?The Confession Booth has a prawny sin entering the episode and we'll be honest... it's genius. You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. The calendar might not quite be in Summer season but we all are because it's that time of year... LOVE ISLAND is BACK! It's the topic on eeeeveryone's lips (unless you fit into Amber's little Ovary Action this week), and its lack of diversity is never a conversation that doesn't come with it. With a deaf contestant and a more racially diverse cast as the years go on, the girls talk about the British public's pairings, the couplings, the body shapes, and whether or not it would be as much of a success if the cast didn't conform to the 'societal beauty expectations'. And, Amber has a crush that she thinks we all need to hear about. In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', it's the topic of the platty joobs... with at least 4 people sending in the same ovary action, it was only fair, and Amber drops in a few of her own...The Confession Booth has ANOTHER adulterous dilemma and the girls are wondering whether this podcast has turned into a Dear Deirdre segment, but either way, they're here for it. And Annabel's at it with another sexy fact and she's creating her own naughty segment by the week! You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. Is unsolicited advice ever justified? Where do we stand in terms of giving someone our thoughts on their life choices, their day to day activities, and what they put on social media? Should we always add our thoughts, or only when someone's in harms way? This week the girls talk all things unsolicited advice, from whether it's different giving advice to your friends and stranger/influencers online, whether we should ever be giving it if we don't know the full picture, and especially if it wasn't asked for. Is it the latest phenomenon for people to be outraged about, or is it another thing social media is adding fuel to the fire over?In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', the girls are back to parking gripes, and Annabel admits despite her previous ovary action... she is part of the problem...The Confession Booth has an adulterous dilemma, and the girls have their brains completely twisted as they try to offer this listener a bit of advice... what would they do? Well, even they're not quite sure! What would you do?!You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. You can also follow Amber and Annabel on Instagram at: @amber.izzo / @itsannabeljane.
In the age of social media, the girls appear to be on slightly different pages when it comes to... well... a lot in this episode. Talking the use of filters on social media, and whether it's really anyone else's business if you choose to edit your photos. Is there a responsibility when you have a certain following? And with the ASA now regulating the use of filters for skincare and beauty adverts, should we be declaring any editing on any photos we upload? Are influencers to blame for the toxic societal expectations and beauty standards, or are they too simply products of their environment? In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', the girls disagree on our listeners pet hate regarding children, YouTube and restaurants, and another listener has a gripe about her Mother-in-Law and their wedding video...The Confession Booth has a deep dark secret, and so the question is, are you accountable for naughty dreams?...You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. Back in the swing of things and Series 3 is coming at you with all sorts of topical issues. This week, Amber & Annabel are discussing the Women's Health Strategy that's currently being discussed, and the 'Menstrual Leave' proposal that's currently undergoing talks in Spain, making it potentially the first European country to grant such leave to its workers. Is it a good idea? Are they being far too generous, and should the focus be on actually supporting women's health rather than just giving time off work? The girls talk it out. In this week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?', the girls discuss a whole array of ovary actions and Annabel is shocked that Amber pays for her own tea. A Yorkshire Tea thief, a croc debate, it's pet peeves are go in series 3! The Confession Booth returns with another gushy Gail but this time, it's a woofer. You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. THE GIRLS ARE BACK! It's Series 3 of Am I Ovary Acting and this week Amber & Annabel address, of course, the question on everybody's lips... how many bottles of sun cream did Annabel use in the Maldives?! Discussing armchair experts worldwide, the girls weigh in on the Amber Heard v Johnny Depp defamation case that's currently plaguing everyone's TVs, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok... you almost can't escape it. From the fact it's televised to the harm the response is having on domestic violence victims, and women sharing their stories in general, the girls discuss the case that is taking the media by storm. This week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?' is from an ovary-acter being accused of over reacting, and the girls are fairly confident that she's not.The Confession Booth is back with a vomit inducing bang, we've warned you in advance... and we're sorry. THIS IS NOT A TRIGGER WARNING BUT IT IS A WARNING THAT THIS EPISODE IS VERY PREGNANCY HEAVY! With the recent news of Amber's pregnancy, please be advised that this episode is predominantly pregnancy and TTC talk. Going forward we won't be putting warnings on the episodes but please note there is likely to be small pregnancy updates in the intros, but of course as Annabel is still TTC and both girls are well seasoned in this area, the title will always make it clear if the episode is especially about pregnancy. We always swore this wouldn't be a fertility podcast, but understand that hearing it may still be difficult for some of our listeners and we have you in mind x ____It's episode 12 of season 2 and this week the girl's are discussing one of your most asked questions... how their relationship has changed since Amber's successful IVF cycle and throughout her nearly ending first trimester. Discussing how Annabel found out, the dynamics of the relationship and the future of the podcast, it's certainly a heartfelt episode! This week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?' is discussing manners, and out comes a story of how Amber really panicked she had offended Annabel's Mum by being such a stickler for manners. Is it ever ok not to say please and thank you, and is it really that hard to lift a hand when someone gives way to you in the car?!The Confession Booth is talking telling someone else to enjoy having fun with your husband in the bedroom, Y for Wanky and 'HAVE A GREAY GAY!'... can you make sense of that? You'd better listen...And Annabel's once again winging it with her Words of Wisdom; but somehow, she nails it again. You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. This week we start off with a little announcement... and so whilst we *all* know the girls thoughts on 'trigger warnings', perhaps take this note as an FYI that the first 5 minutes of the podcast are discussing a pregnancy and so you might want to skip the first few minutes if you're not feeling it today! Amber makes a disclaimer after a stark realisation about a film she recommended, and Annabel discusses her pending EXOTIC holiday, but more importantly... the girls are handing the mic to Close Friends podcaster, NOBS app founder and all round great gal, Lucy Mountain! The girls talk diet culture, the 'anti-diet' movement, Lucy's work as a personal trainer and how that fits into her online Instagram presence, and whether or not intentional weight loss should be totally shunned as a bad thing. Should intentional weight loss ever be encouraged? This week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?' is over to Lucy and she's sharing her self-inflicted cat frustrations, which leads to a whole conversation about our furry friends and their terrible habits. The Confession Booth talks gym induced embarrassment when one lady got cut a little bit short... Oh, Gladys! And Lucy shows up with the Words of Wisdom; silly fun is the best kind, right? You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. It's getting down and dirty on this week's episode of Am I Ovary Acting?, and Amber and Annabel ask the BIG question of whether or not it's okay for your partner to be watching porn. They've asked you, the lovely listeners, for your input and it's fair to say there's plenty of opinions flying around. Exploring whether the type of porn is relevant, whether it's disrespectful, or simply sexual expression with no relation to your sex life, from the ethics of porn and OnlyFans, to Anime and porn addictions, the topic is deeply explored. This week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?' has the girls GASPING. Is Julia's friend really muggy and truly taking the p%£$, or are we all ovary acting?! The Confession Booth takes us back down memory lane to the world of chicken fillets and La Senza, and chicken fillets seem to be a running theme in this week's episode... don't they, Amber?... We're back to Amber for this week's Words of Wisdom; and apparently, she's a bit cliché...You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com. They're pretty much half way through series 2, and Amber and Annabel discuss their fears around ageing. They discuss their own thoughts around the inevitable process, both the mental side and the physical aspects; does having cosmetic surgery or fillers mean you're not growing old gracefully? This week's 'Am I Ovary Acting?' leads to an extensive conversation about wine, which nobody's complaining about, asking whether testing the wine at a restaurant is snobbery or necessary. The Confession Booth is a HOWLER, and if you're a fan of Corner yoghurts... well, you may think again. And who is in the wrong?! Quinn, or her drunken boyfriend?!It's over to Annabel for this week's Words of Wisdom; short, sweet, topical... and straight to the point. You can follow the AIOA podcast on Instagram at @amiovaryacting where the girls are WAITING for your ovary actions and your confessions, so send a DM or email aioapodcast@gmail.com.
