Bob Dylan – Bringing It All Back Home (1965): The Album That Changed Everything
In this episode of Music Rewind, we dive deep into one of the most pivotal and influential albums in rock and folk history: Bringing It All Back Home by Bob Dylan, released in 1965.
This wasn't just another record — it was a cultural earthquake. Splitting its identity between electric rock and acoustic introspection, the album captured Dylan mid-reinvention, challenging the expectations of the folk community and redefining what a singer-songwriter could be. It helped ignite the folk-rock movement and permanently altered the trajectory of modern music.
Host Steve is joined by musician and songwriter William John Titus Bishop to unpack the album's enduring legacy — track by track, side by side.
What We Cover
Dylan's bold transition from folk purist to electric innovator
The controversy and tension his electric turn created within the music community
The album's dual structure: electric Side A vs. acoustic Side B
Track-by-track highlights, including Subterranean Homesick Blues, Mr. Tambourine Man, She Belongs to Me, Love Minus Zero/No Limit, and more
How Bringing It All Back Home bridges two artistic worlds with confidence and conviction
Why the album remains a cornerstone of creative risk-taking and artistic evolution
Connecting Dylan's 1965 transformation to the challenges artists face today
About the Guest: William John Titus Bishop
William John Titus Bishop is a musician and songwriter whose work blends introspective lyricism with modern indie and alternative influences. Drawing inspiration from classic songwriters while forging his own creative path, his music reflects a deep appreciation for storytelling, melody, and emotional authenticity.

In this episode of Music Rewind, we turn our attention to one of the most vital and uncompromising albums of the 20th century: London Calling by The Clash, released in 1979.
This wasn't just a punk record — it was a worldview. Fusing reggae, ska, rockabilly, soul, and straight-up rock 'n' roll into a politically charged, genre-defying statement, London Calling captured a moment of social unrest, cultural collision, and creative fearlessness that still resonates today. It blew the doors off punk's limitations and set a new standard for what rock music could say — and how boldly it could say it.
Host S.R. Epley is joined by author, musician, and cultural commentator Rob Janicke to dig into the album's enduring legacy and why its message still hits hard decades later.
What We Cover
How London Calling expanded and transcended punk's boundaries
The album's genre fusion: reggae, ska, rockabilly, soul, and rock 'n' roll
Why it connected so deeply across class and genre lines
How The Clash balanced righteous anger with accessibility and ambition
The iconic opening bassline and the album's global perspective
The social and political climate of 1979 that shaped the record
Why London Calling remains a blueprint for artists who refuse to stay in their lane
Connecting the album's rebellious spirit to how music scenes form, fracture, and evolve
About the Guest: Rob Janicke
Rob Janicke is an author, musician, and cultural commentator with a deep focus on how music reflects and shapes generational identity. He is the author of Slacker - 1991, Teen Spirit Angst, and the Generation It Created, exploring the cultural forces, technological shifts, and artistic movements that defined a pivotal era in modern music. Drawing from both his work as a writer and practicing musician, Rob brings a sharp, historically grounded perspective to the conversation.

Welcome to the Season 5 premiere of Music Rewind. We're kicking things off with one of the most daring and divisive left turns in modern music history: Kid A by Radiohead, released in 2000.
Coming off the back of OK Computer, Radiohead had the world's attention — and then they burned the blueprint. Kid A abandoned guitar-driven alt-rock entirely, plunging into icy electronic textures, jazz-influenced arrangements, and an atmosphere of anxious abstraction that left fans and critics scrambling to catch up. It wasn't just an album — it was a statement that a mainstream band could go anywhere, sound like anything, and answer to no one.
Host Steve is joined by Jon D'Auria, Editor-in-Chief of Bass Magazine, to unpack the album's legacy, its impact on the industry, and why Kid A remains one of the most important and debated records of the 21st century.
What We Cover
How Kid A shattered expectations coming off the success of OK Computer
Radiohead's rejection of guitar-driven alt-rock and embrace of electronic experimentation
The album's icy textures, jazz influences, and avant-garde structure
How Kid A challenged listeners and reshaped what mainstream music could be
Its critical reception in 2000 and the debate it sparked at the time
The album's enduring influence on artists across indie, electronic, and alternative music
Why Kid A still sparks conversation and controversy decades later
The role of bass and texture in building the album's unique sonic world
About the Guest: Jon D'Auria
Jon D'Auria is the Editor-in-Chief of Bass Magazine and a respected voice in music journalism. With years of experience covering artists, albums, and the evolving role of bass in modern music, Jon brings deep industry insight and historical context to the conversation — illuminating not only how Kid A was received at the time, but why it continues to resonate with musicians and fans alike.

The Complete Volume 1 of Music Through The Generations.
Music Through The Generations is a Bonus series that takes a few music rewind regulars out into the field to interview a wide range of people of various ages and locations, a full generational gap of 80 years. We asks them all the same 5 musical questions, and the answers are fascinating. We took the three published episodes and combined them into one volume for easily listening.
NOTE: A few of the interviews were conducted in community areas during Christmas parties. We did our best to cut out the background junk, but sometimes a bit a noise creeps in.
The Questions:
What music is your favorite right now?
What music did you listen to growing up?
What music did your parents listen to?
Where do you listen to music?
What is Classic Rock to you?
Shameless plug for one of the guests in this episode, Reed Epley, who just finished his year originating the role of Michael Darling in the New Peter Pan National Tour. Follow him on IG to see what he does next:
