Hello everyone. I am a Buddhist living in Tokyo. I would like to share with you the essence of Buddhist sutras. This podcast contains parables and simple expressions that represent the essence of the sutras, the teachings of the Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. We hope that this podcast will help you meet enlightened people in your daily life and help you find fresh answers to life situations. This podcast is a transcription from the English version of the Buddhist scriptures published by the Association for the Propagation of Buddhism. The Association for the Propagation of Buddhism, which means in Japanese "an organization of people who transmit the teachings of Buddha," has an office in Mita, Minato-ku, Tokyo (in the neighborhood of Keio University). You can access Buddhist sutras translated into languages around the world. This podcast is an unofficial channel of the association. In this first installment, listen to the most important doctrines of Buddhism, including the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha realized them 2,500 years ago. If you practice and realize these, you too can become a Buddha. This year and last year, we heard the news of the deaths of many people. It is really sad. However, the truth of the impermanence of life and death is a fact that has been taught to us by those who have awakened to it, so please do not be surprised and awaken to the wisdom of this truth. Unfortunately, as imperfect beings, no matter how much we grieve the death of our neighbors, it is very difficult for us to help them. No matter how deeply we pray and cry for the resurrection of our dying relatives, as we all know, we cannot raise them from the dead. The thought is a noble but imperfect act of mercy that cannot be performed. Wisdom can be invoked. Anyone can perform it. And when we practice the perfect act of mercy and eventually become truly wise, we can help our neighbors who wish to become wise and help them realize their wishes. That is what it means to awaken to wisdom.
Hello everyone. I am a Buddhist living in Tokyo. Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Listen to the final episode of the transliterated Buddhist scripture "The Awakening Buddhist World". They own the copyright of the book. You will have to Buddhist scriptures translated into languages from around the world. Finally, I would like to tell you something. It is not that "faith" in Buddhism means to believe in something. Maybe you think that belief means to cling to something as a certainty.  It is not.  It means that your mind becomes clean and clear. When you awaken to deep wisdom, Buddhists call it faith. Those who have awakened to it see the world correctly and without bias. Then he or she will surely take action to make the world a better place. Buddhists call it practice. When you are fully awakened to it, you will become a Buddha. Please be well aware. Please. How can I awaken to wisdom? That's a tough question. I can't give you an easy answer that if you do A, you will definitely get B. Only swindlers pretending to be religious would say such words. That's the crap the quack-religionists say. I can only give you a little advice. One of them is that it is important to keep "doubt". Any question is fine. It can be a metaphysical question or a familiar problem. Don't obscure it, but work hard at it as an eternal, insoluble enigma. Don't take things for granted. It's important to question why it's taken for granted. You will find that it was the best nourishment for your awakening to wisdom. The second important thing is to meet people who are already enlightened. If possible, you should meet a living person. If you can't do that, someone you meet in a book will do. For example, the Buddha's words that I learned from this podcast. It is meeting those who have already been awakened by voice or writing. They will surely convey deep wisdom to you. I think these two things are the most important things in life. And I realize that it is also the greatest happiness of my life. Please meet good mentors (it means Buddhas and Bodhisattovas.).

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live wisely and earnestly for the present.  Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.  Wisdom is the best guide and faith is the best companion. One must try to escape from the darkness of ignorance and suffering, and seek the light of Enlightenment. On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night.   If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him; if he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.  Everything is changeable, everything appears and disappears; there is no blissful peace until one passes beyond the agony of life and death. The part we will listen today, I think, needs to be heard with delicate attention. Because you would mistake Buddha for "God". I believe Buddha is just a man. I believe Buddha is just a man who has awakened to wisdom. Buddha is not a superhuman being. So Buddha is not an object of faith, nor is he a 'savior'. Buddha does not have super-scientific supernatural powers. The true wisdom he awakened, we should also awaken, we should live the broad path of enlightened practice, Even if it is a hard road. We save ourselves! By awakening to wisdom. Buddha is our best senior. We should realize the true wisdom that he has awakened. Please, listen to it with full attention.
