Known for his consistency at the plate (.283 career average) and elite defense—including an NL record 245 consecutive error-free games in center—Jay brought steady production wherever he played, from the Cardinals to the Padres, Cubs, Royals, Diamondbacks, White Sox, and Angels. Off the field, Jay has been active in community work and is a proud family man.
